You should go and get one, right now, seriously :D

This is about as obscene as Pamela Anderson performing in the West End.

When I got my first 22" I thought, "This is pretty big.". Then you know that jump upto 24" which really is quite a visual difference..
So, when I got my first 24" I thought, "This really is pretty big.".

When I got my first 30" I thought, "I really need to come up with a better word than big".

Only question now, when I inevitably become used to this one, where do you go from here?!

Jesus pic away folks

It's not that I haven't been tempted, but there's no way I could justify blowing a grand on a monitor, especially given the dubious quality control which seems to plague most expensive LCD panels these days...

This! they just don't make them like they used to.

The problem is justifying the cost and space.

£1000 for a screen that will require bleeding edge gpu's in tandem to run if you game and unfortunately seem to suffer a large a number of problems is not worth it to the number that could potentially afford it.

30" for a desktop screen is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge though, I'd love to have one but like EE cpu's they are off limits. :D

It's just too big, tbh I wouldn't go for bigger than 24", it can't be good for you!

I want a 30" as sometiems I return to my 24" Hazro from using my notebook connected to the 52" or 32" downstairs and just think "wow.....meh!" but then what could possibly replace the Hazro's colour and performance?!

I'm thinking maybe a used HZ30 or Dell 3007WFP as they use the same panel?

A 30" would perfectly fit on my Ergotron arm but won't be able to pivot of course, it would be epic win on all proportions!

I'd rather have multiple 24" than 1 x 30"

For gaming maybe, but the purpose of my computer is to edit photos. And you really can't beat one mahoosive screen for that. Photoshop is very much a one screen program.

So far for anything else the extra resolution has been pointless. So if you don't use your PC for multimedia work, or programs that require lots of pixel estate, they are definitely not a wise purchase.

But then you just look at the size of it and OH MY G... :D

Whether you use your monitor for gaming or multimedia it doesn't change the price of the screen. 30 inch monitors have never been a wise purchase when it comes to value for money. In many respects it mirrors high end gpu's. The only difference is people tend to change monitors less than gfx cards, usually.

Your posts seem more self justifying and self appreciating more than anything else. But nevertheless enjoy your monitor.

I absolutely love my 30" for pretty much everything. I game a little and don't have a high end GPU. So I just drop the resolution a little. Agreed it won't be native res but if that's important then simply drop to 1200x800 and ram up the AA etc.

They are a compromise though. But overall I completely agree with the OMG WOW factor whem you first start using them. I may consider moving to a smaller screen in the future, simply for space issues or more likely to allow a high res using a laptop (most lapptops won't support such a high native res). But apart from that, youmd have to prise my 30" out of my cold dead hands!

same here, I just love the space you get with a 30in screen. At first it took a bit of getting used to, but once i got used to it, it's hard to go back to a smaller screen. I just love all the extra desktop space you get from 2560x1600. It's not about being able to focus on the whole screen with your eyes, but being able to have multiple panels in the open without covering anything up. Playing with or looking at high resolution photos without scrolling is great too.

I find a 26" - 28" to be optimal.

It's not too big for games and not small for movies, just right for both.

Native res of 1900x1200 also won't tax your gpu as much as 2560x1600 when running newer games.

yeahhh budddy! you got it down sauf yet mate?

Yeah boi! I'm surprised you weren't the first person I called tbh!

Lmao!! Man, why am I not surprised? So what if they are? I post up a topic about a 30" monitor and someone has to get serious about it, dear oh dear. It's a topic about me getting a monitor, it really wasn't going to be anything but self appreciating was it? :p

I'de have let all the Eyefinity comments slip if I actually used my computer for games, or thought multiple 24" monitors were better for my needs, just reminding those people we still use our computers for work too :)

Honestly folks it's only a bit of fun.. Save your serious face for Speakers Corner :D

A mate and I were talking about how big is too big for monitors. We both said 24" is about the limit before it gets a bit... ridiculous. I mean you're more than likely sitting right in front of your monitor, does it need to get into big screen TV realms?
