I have asked by a friend to cost a new base unit only - he has a 19" TFT(1280x1024), and XP, Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers already.

Mainly looking for general office and some gaming, mainly MMORPG's, but with a maximum cost all in of £300.

All looks compatible although I don't know huge amounts about AM2, you could go for the OcUK PC6400 Ram and save another £1 or so to put towards a larger hard drive. Other than that I can't see any obvious problems or improvements apart from the lack of an optical drive. :)

One other thing - do most new motherboards install SATA drives without a floppy drive?

Should be fine AFAIK, my M/B is nearly two years old and it doesn't require drivers for SATA HDD's.
