Hi guys, a friend needs a PC building. I don't know the in's and out's of the latest technologies anymore (long past that) but I can bang the thing together for him no bother.

Just after a rough spec of what people would stick together for a top whack of 300 quid on the base unit.

2 or 4 gig of RAM is ok, 4 would be better.

320 gig HD or higher if budget allows.

Onboard VGA, sound etc fine for now.

ATX case, motherboard.

Intel or AMD options welcome.

Thanks all :)

I was looking at 7750 CPU's, typical cheap 30 quid Gigabyte AM2/3 motherboards etc, DDR2 RAM.

Or a cheap Intel board (Gigabyte again), 5300 CPU etc.

Forgot to mention what it's gonna be for.

Very basic Photoshop editing, web browsing, general office kinda use. Just wants it to feel snappy so will be using XP (we've got the OS already) as he's got a Vista laptop at the moment which he's selling and replacing with a new machine. Monitor has already been chosen by him.

He's selling his old machine which is a laptop, he's been offered good money which is why he wants to replace with a better spec'd PC for the same price, so no old components we can use :(

Another option is dual core CPU, more ram, bigger HD, video card...

Any plus points do you think chaps? He won't be doing anything hugely taxing with it.
