£300 stereo?

The two vintage 104's i can find on there have had the domes on the tweeters poked in and they all seem to have lost their grilles. If it were me I'd see how cheap i could get a pair then replace the tweeters with a suitable drop in replacement. (Morel cat 298 are drop in replacements) You can get different tweeters entirely and simply adjust the crossover to suit another tweeter like I did with my chorales. I fitted SEAS 22TFF tweeters in mine as used in the spendor classic range, very good sound in kef speakers when combined with a -4dB L pad. (which is a 2R resistor in series and a 10R resistor in parallel to the +/- connections on the tweeter)

Not a great deal of decent vintage kit hiding on there atm. Keep an eye on local freeads and freecycle as you can really get some good bargains there especially when people don't realise what they are chucking out/giving away. Demand for decent british vintage hi-fi is always high, particularly from the far east. (reason why the rogers LS3/5a's & tannoy dual concentrics are worth so much money these days)

I found Celestion Ditton 15 XR for 49 pounds + 15 pounds delivery.

Rogers LS4/5a Monitor speakers licensed by BBC. Vintage Speaker,s & Jammo stands - auction 1 person bidding and 30 quid delivery.

Are they any good?

LS4's should have an accurate frequecny response, but they will lack low end due to their small size. 55Hz at roughly -2dB according to the image.

The ditton 15XR's are pretty good, not quite sure how low down the low frequencies go but you should be into the 40's. Tweeters on the XR are an improvement over the standard 15's. (on a standard 15 they used HF1300's which fall off past 14KHz, XR's use a different tweeter which solved this problem) These are a fair bit better than the rogers. (the ones for £75 certainly look tidier than the £49 ones)

EDIT: Tweeters are HD1000 and extend up to 28KHz. LF response is supposedly down to 30Hz. (probably @ -3dB or so) The ones in Barnet for £75 look exceptionally good, just a few marks to the edges on the veneer which should be treatable with some furniture polish. Best of all is the grilles look mint. (why are they always in london and collect only, I'd quite like them.)
