Hi all,

Looking for a car at the moment nd the one that appears to tick all the boxes is the 306 dturbo, without a massive amount to spend the results I tend to get have covered in excess off 100k, does anyone have an idea of the intervals at which the larger services/belt changes etc are required?

Cheers, Jack

Can't think of service intervals off the top of my head, but the average dturbo engine life is roughly forever. 100k means it's pretty much run in.

yeah, the engine will outlive you. The electrics will be long gone mind, and bits of the interior will fall off everytime you go over a bump

72k is what Peugeot recommend, everyone else recommends every 30k and get the water pump done every 60k, it's only £20.
New belt, tensioners and water pump cost me £200 last year including labour to give you an idea of the cost. To change the belt alone would cost about £150 as most of the cost is labour.

Service intervals are every 6000 miles, but new semi-synthetic oil and filter is only £16 from motorfactors if you do it yourself. You don't even have to jack the car up to do it, just get one of those cheap washing up bowls from Asda and push it underneath, it takes 15 mins to do it :)

I do an oil change every 5k miles on mine and every other interval I do a 'full' service which includes new oil, oil filter and washer, air filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, coolant/antifreeze and a bottle of injector cleaner all for the princely sum of £52 from motorfactors. It takes about an hour of my time. Cheap motoring at it's best.

As for mileage my sig speaks volumes, theres much higher mileage ones on Pug306.net. The engine is noisy, but it's bullet proof as long as you stick to the service intervals and the power is great for round town driving and motorways provided you stay below 85mph (above that the power disappears quickly).

Cheers lads, I'm finding it difficult to get hold of one at the moment but that info is golden so thanks a lot. Any tips on where to look? Ive trawled gumtree/AT/PH/F4C and all my local papers, may check out some owners clubs/forums next.

There are plenty about yes, but only the occasional one that fits my criteria, and after a few weeks of ringing to find out "it's sold mate" i am just seeing if there is anywhere I'm not looking that could prove helpful.

The older the car, the better the odds of it being Bosch equiped. The M & N were Bosch, but some of the P reg stuff is Lucas, then after that everything is Lucas. Unless they changed it themselves.

Basically you need to see a photo of the engine, or have a seller who knows what they're talking about.

Ahh, gotcha. I guess it's a similar deal with the Xsara also, you need to have a gander at the engine really. :) With derv costing so much right now it's pretty tempting to pick one of these up and just run on veg. :D

Fastest car on the road, the Dturbo, especially when screw modded...

Yup, it's a little known fact that the brown Shell Grip stuff you see at the traffic lights isn't there to improve braking, it's the only stuff that can handle the power of the dturbo when you pull away at full chat.
