3060ti low gpu usage

Hi people, i recently bought a 3060ti and although i get ok fps in most games, i dont think its getting what it should be, my gpu usage can drop as low as 50% in hogworts for example while my cpu usage is only 4%

Im 100% sure the cpu isnt bottlenecking the gpu at all but im seeing little difference between this 3060ti and my old 2070.

My usage is higher in battlefield 5 but still not 99% all the time, it jumps from 90s to 70s, mw2 also sees low usage (cant remember what at mo) and its doing my nut in thinking that maybe im missing out on some fps

Do you think its the nvidia drivers? my cpu is a 3800x as in sig, usage has seemed very low on the cpu in 99% of the games i play.

What are others getting with there 3060ti? are you getting low usage? ive tried everything but nothing has worked so far

Hogwarts is not a good example - 50% GPU utilisation in that game is a fairly usual story - the game seems to have a lot of bottlenecks software wise.

Could you recommend a game i should hit 90% in all the time at all please? as i thought i should be doing that in bf5 but no, it drops to 70 usage a lot.

I don't play a lot of current games any more so not really sure what would be best.

Though low GPU use is a thing with Hogwarts I just fired it up on my laptop 3070 mobile w/ 10870H which is similar kind of performance to your system and getting 80+% GPU use in Hogsmeade:

But there are plenty of areas of the game including Hogsmeade where it regularly drops to as low as 50%.

Just an obvious one but you aren't being limited by V-Sync are you?

Thanks for reply...mmmm seems from the newest videos ive seen on the net quite a lot of people are now getting lower usage with there 3060ti...maybe its a driver thing, good to know im not the only one getting it in hogworts though

no, i have my refresh set to 165hrz and vsync off in game

Isn't Hogwarts a bit of VRAM hog? Maybe try dropping the texture quality down a notch which will allow more data to be passed from the memory pool to the shaders.

Also try running 3DMark and compare you score to others with a similar setup.

it was a system ram hog more than vram

Its not just hogworts though, every game the gpu usage goes a little low, havent played a game yet that stays in the 90% range

sounds like cpu bottleneck, cant get high gpu usage if cpu cant push out frames and if its an older gen cpu and the game is hammering a few or 1 thread you get low gpu usage cause its sat twiddling its thumbs waiting for data

Maybe, although ive seen old vids of the 3600 with a 3060ti pushing games into the 90s regular, modern vids most people seem to be getting the same as me as ive discovered, maybe its the newer drivers for the 3060ti?

Im sure the 3800x shouldnt bottleneck a 3060ti, im still getting pretty good fps but just wish i could get 99% usage in most games constant, it does push to 99% in a lot of games but dosnt seem to stay there, it goes up and down a lot

stick it to 4k and high gfx settings if you want to see high usage

Just tried halo multiplayer and usage was in the 90s 99% of the time, most the time it was at 99% so all is well must be a mixture of games and drivers or something
