3060Ti

RRP used to mean something tho :p

Nowadays, not so much. 3060 Ti RRP of $399 and actual retail price of £500 :p

There are reasons why we suffer more in the UK, but knowing them doesn't make it an easier pill to swallow :p

We're going to be the new Oz, paying 1.5 - 2x the price the rest of the world pays.

It's the pre Xmas + short supply + launch tax. It will settle out in the new year once retailers have stock sitting on shelves gathering dust.

Until then.... it's the wild west

Not wanting to get into a conversation about what is "mid-range" and what is "low-end" (been there, done that), if the best £300 gets you is a 5500XT, then you have to wonder why you're paying that much when an XSX is £450 and will perform a lot better.
I got the 5500XT for ~£185. I was highlighting that you absolutely can buy a graphics card for under the budget you mentioned that can happily play modern games at 1080p and better in some cases.

Trying to class cards as low-end or mid-range, etc, is just a mugs game in my mind. It varies too much on your own use case and expectations!

I just want to get advice but I think this card is kinda sat on my fence falling the wrong way
Currently have a Ryzen 3600 and a 2070s hybrid.and monitor is LG 34” 2550 x 1440 @144hz , play mainly COD- FS2020 and VR with a guest, just want to max out all the settings etc
Upgrading to a Ryzen 5900 and was looking at a 3080 FE or EVGA XC but with availability none existent I’m going backwards here, could have bought a 3070 easily if I had been paid last week, and getting desperate now lol will this card work or fall a bit short

It's too expensive if people don't want to pay that much for whatever performance it offers :p

A lot of people want to spend £200-£300.

And they expect a mid-range part for that money.

Currently, AMD and nV say, "Nah. We don't get out of bed for less than £500!" Ignoring the phony RRP prices that nobody can actually buy at.

how can anyone expect a mid range card for less than £300 when the 1070 was £380 at launch?

1440p is outselling 1080p. You must have missed that so I'll repeat it, just for you.

1080p is a declining market. 1440p is a growing market. 4K is a growing market.

Also the 3060Ti is going to struggle on a high refresh 1080p as it is on a 1440p.

Just look at the charts. Even cards like the 3080 can't maintain 100+ FPS at 1080p in all games.

Just to add, I think this is where DLSS was meant to kick in. So with it enabled you could actually play the game on low tier hardware. Otherwise its pointless adding RTX to such weak spec hardware IMO. May as well switch to selling them as GTX.

Debating getting one of these for the odd time I game.

I play Skyrim with a bit of Modern Warfare/FPS type games. Is that card decent for my needs as I've a freesync monitor and really want to ditch this 980 and go back to AMD drivers for the Chill feature etc.

How do you find it? What brand did you go for? Is the vRAM amount ok for 1080P?

Well we're talking about the xx60.

Currently that (seems to be) a £470 ish card, which is (to my mind) far too high for that part.

I'm not sure it's unreasonable to expect a xx60 card for ~£300. Although I'm sure it won't happen and it won't go below £400 for the most part.

If you're considering the 5500xt as a replacement for the GTX980 in your sig I'd give it a miss, it performs about the same looking at benchmarks!
The one I have picked up is the basic Powercolor one, stays fairly cool but it's not a quiet card - the heatsink is clearly a basic design so the fans have to spin up quite a lot to keep the temps down.
VRAM isn't going to be an issue with 8GB, same as a lot of higher-end cards that are fine at 1440p and 4k!

I'd bought it for a PC for my brother, but I think I'm likely to swap it for something with a bit more performance and/or much quieter at load.
