Hi all,

Believe it or not the girlfriend’s 307 has a problem.

Changed the coolant at the weekend and now it seems to vary in temp between just below normal (90) and near red. Seems to get hotter when stationary, which I would say means low coolant. Checked the coolant tonight and that’s fine.

When I was filling it I had the bleed screw at the bulkhead open until water was running out of it. Ran the car then topped up the expansion tank and that hasn’t moved now.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks
Pete

Sounds like an air pocket, you don't mention the model however my girlfriends old 307 2L 110HDI had 3 bleed points one near the block, the one behind the battery at the bulkhead and one under/around the airbox (I think can't quite remember now)

LOL yea sorry guys its a beast of a 1.4 petrol

EDIT: If its a air pocket how would I get rid..... just run the engine with the bleeders open until water runs out...?

I'd run the engine with the expension tank cap off and wait till it gets up to temperature. Should release any air in the system

Run the engine from cold with the cap off. It will come out if its already hot and you take the cap off as the system is pressurised :p

Should do. If it overflows then you must be above the max mark as it should be the highest point in the engine bay.

Obviously if it overflows dont do it :P

Should be fine the temperature guage will just give a few different readings. Have you checked that the fan cuts in?

Xez Thanks mate, yea the fan does cut in

Dead and Gone THanks for your input, I dont think its that bad of a lock as the temp gauge dosent move too much and she went on quite a good drive yesterday and it never fully overheated where she had to stop.
