3080TI Founders Edition unexpected shutdown issue

Great to hear you identified the root cause and now have a stable system.
I have the EVGA Supernova G2 850W PSU. Who'd have thought a single letter make all the difference.
Reading other threads on EVGA Supernova PSUs, GA is apparently the newer production line so i'd assume there is a change in materials used to make it cheaper is my guess.
the G2 ive seen is solid as a rock where as it's sucessor the G3 (the one I had pre-ordered but changed by the supplier due to very late shipment delivery) is not as great - see a trend here.

Which model did you replace it with? Still got RMA open with EVGA?
I replaced it with a Seasonic Focus GX 850W gold. I still have yet to send the EVGA GA for RMA, which will be dropped off tomorrow.

Nice, I believe my 750W Phanteks is based on the Season Focus and incidently the tier list mentions that it too had power tripping issues on pre 2018 units on certain GPUs. Mine was brand new for the 3080 build and seems all good :)

More like a total change in supplier.
For EVGA gold rated supplies:
GA for Andyson who don't have a great reputation.
G2 and G3 are both SuperFlower.
GS is Seasonic.
I'm sure there's more as I think they also rebrand FSP and CWT.

And this is why I hate EVGA for power supplies, they chop and change OEMs so much. People think "I've got an EVGA so it must be good".

No mate, go look up the OEM and only then will you know if you have a decent unit. in EVGA's case, the majority are toilet.

Well, they almost all do this.
Corsair are as bad or worse.
TX started off as Seasonic, but are now mostly CWT or Great Wall.
AX is s similar story although the AXi are Flextronic.
Even one of their first budget PSUs, the CX400 was Seasonic but they're now all CWT.
The modus operandi of big companies entering the PSU branding game: start of with a great OEM and sell those cheap. Get good reviews. Then cheapen out.

RM850i + 3080 = coil whine from the psu in my case. :(
But not the GPU?
Been able to test out with a different PSU to see if the GPU whines at all then?

My first replacement RM750i coil-whined something awful. The GPU still did too, but the PSU was far louder.
Corsair accepted the RMA no questions asked. So you could try going that route with yours?
