3090 GDDR 6 temps

i didnt say i have a 5950x in the same loop too which puts even more heat in as i have a manual oc on the cpu of 4.6ghz @1.28v, my fans run at 800-900rpm at idle and when i'm in games they spin upto 1500rpm which can just about be heard but not to the point it becomes annoying, if i run benchmarks i go in to the software and ramp the fans to 3000rpm so i get the very best cooling but i have to leave the room as my pc sounds like a jet engine, it's truly awful, dont do that anymore really.
just enjoy my silent pc in games :)

AIOs are pretty cheap for CPUs.

I normally play EFT which doesn't seem to push the GPU too hard as temps are normally about 60c core and mid 80s vram tjm. However, I started playing Cyberpunk yesterday which does stretch the legs of the 3090 a fair bit more and was seeing temps of high 60s on the core and 100 on the vram tjm. This may have gone higher as I only ran HWInfo for 15 minutes to see what the max temps would be.

My 3090 FE is one from the last drop and it looks like nVidia may have tweaked the thermal items they use on the cards (better pads?, better placement?).

I haven't seen my memory on my Gigabyte Eagle OC 3090 go above 90C yet, It usually sits around mid 80's.

I got my card on release so wouldn't have had any revision

My FE is from the first drop after christmas and I eventually hit the same temps playing cyberpunk. Takes at leadt an hour in a warm room. Also depends on GPU usage, I'm anything between high 70s GPU use and flat out depending on game area. Less demanding stuff like RDR2 and AC Valhalla top out at mid 60s core and mid 90s ram. Anything with RTX adds heat.

The FE cooler dumps heat pretty quickly if you have the case air flow to go with it. I'm using Argus monitor to tie my case fan speeds to the FE core temp. Works well as they ramp up when the card gets hot but quickly drop down to near silent levels if you're in the game menus. Can't hear my PC while gaming now that I have the curves set up.

I was running with RTX on when playing Cyberpunk so maybe my temps aren’t too bad. I use Argus monitor too as it seemed to be the only thing that worked well with Gigabyte motherboards. Works well though. As I have my CPU air cooled too and it all crammed into a Cooler Master NR200, I have my fan curve set to an average of the CPU and GPU.

Good stuff. I've got the cpu on an AIO that's controlled through a usb header. So I let the AIO and GPU fans do their own thing and just let the GPU core temp control the case fans through Argus. The curve tops out at about 1500 rpm but they're usually at <1200.

Hi All,

My 3090 Inno3d Frostbyte (water block) GPU, settles around 50oC while gaming, which is great!

However, I have a feeling however the the back populated VRAM is not so well cooled, what are your experiences of this? I have seen my VRAM go as high as 92oC in cases, although it usually sits around 84oC!

Anyone know what the specs are for these micron chips? Must be forged in the fires of hell!
Seems good temps there I would say.

Think I may remove the backplate off the 3090 and replace the pads, anyone have any idea on the thickness of these? Any specific ones you would recommend?

Plenty of guides on YT/Reddit with correct thickness range, some use 1mm but I would use 1.5mm or 2mm (depends if pads are harder or softer).

I have a asus tuf 3090 oc and vram temps average around 75c the max i've seen was 82c all while gaming, this is well within spec as it wont throttle until 110c. core never goes above 65c. Your temps are ok so don't worry and just enjoy your card.

3090fe here, with stock pads the ram junction temp would go up to 110c in quake 2 rtx after a very long session, and in regular games it was frequently over 100c
With modded pads it now doesn't exceed 96c in quake 2 rtx and In most regular games I't doesn't exceed 85c.

Hi there. What pads / thickness did you get?

That due to poor airflow? Don’t think mine has ever exceeded 96C but that’s in a 750D which is fairly spacious.

I used 3x Thermalright Thermal Pad 12.8 W/mK, 85x45x1.5mm

It's an Enthoo Pro with 7x 140mm fans, not as good airflow as your 750D but not bad by any means

I think good airflow is the key here, I removed the top hd cage in my 750D to allow the top front fan to blow over the gpu. Do you have the airflow750D? Mine was the solid front but i replaced the panel with the grilled one.

Yep, airflow front on both the 750D’s I’ve got.

It was an afterthought originally but immediately knocked a few degrees off of everything. Removed all the cages too.

Function over form it may be but way better air flow than some of the cases I’ve seen.
