30D, 5D, D200 - quick samples \m/

The 20D's great value for money, so's the 30D in my opinion. It's about time Nikon released a MarkII on their models to get rid of the ......... ;)

(10 Marks for guessing the word)

Aha huh haaaaaaah! good one :p

d200 is only 200 (or less) than the 30D though but the build quality is certainly better on the "N" even compared to the 5D and I'm not saying that just for the fun of it!

speaking of dpreview...they still havent got a review of the 30d up yet  thought it would have been done by now. The camera has been available for nearly 3 weeks now...
Except for 3 or 4 minor tweaks, the 30D review will be exactly the same as the 20D.

Held the D200 in my local camera shop today.

Wow.

It's like the F6, built absolutely solidly. In fact, in many ways (in terms of operation and build quality) it's a mini-D2X (which is saying something). One of the most reassuring grip feel I've experienced and ergonomics is first rate, as you'd expect.

Focus is near-instant even with non-SWM (USM) lenses. I asked to view the camera with a lens and until I looked at the lens afterwards, I actually thought I was trying it out with an AF-S lens but realised it was the normal screw driven one. :o

Viewfinder is very spacious, very bright. ISO indication in the viewfinder (cue "you'd definitely want to know what ISO you're using on a Nikon" type comment :p ) and the best looking menu interface I've ever seen on a camera.

Even if you're a Canon person, I'd highly recommend just trying one out if you get the chance. All the noise and banding talk aside, it's a truly special body considering the price range.

see!

the "issues" were fixed after batch 1000 or something of the d200 (briefed a memo on nikonians) :) - all shops should have sent their pre1000 stock t nikon for fixing so no one should be sold a dodgy d200 at retail anymore :)

PS, you should have asked to see it with the 17-55 f2.8G lens, you would cry :)
