31.5" 2560x1440 165 Hz VA G-Sync - LG 32GK850G

76% of steam users are still using a 1080p monitor, 3.5% are on 2560x1440 monitors, 0.45% are using 4k monitors.
But many users just have laptops and low end hardware, if you look at them many are still rocking GTX 970 which is enough for them, if you are going into the market for higher end monitors then most of us have already jumped onto the 1440p/144hz and the next step is higher.

I don't think there is a general need for UHD monitors at this time... maybe when GPUs are more powerful and Windows scaling works properly, but these 2 things are very big factors.

SO a rough idea is;

- 34" Ultrawide Curved, Nano IPS, 3440x1440, G-Sync 120Hz, DCI-P3 98% - June ish
- 34" Ultrawide Curved, Nano IPS, 3440x1440, Freesync, 144Hz, HDR, DCI-P3 98% - July ish
- 32" 2560x1440 VA, G-Sync, 165Hz - Jan/Feb
- 32" 2560x1440 IPS, Freesync, 1ms 144Hz, HDR - Feb/Mar
- 32" 2560x1440 IPS, 1ms 144Hz - April
- 27" 1920x1080 TN, Freesync, 1ms 240Hz - Jan/Feb

these aren't 100% confirmed, but the ones that are Jan/Feb or Feb/Mar are pretty certain due to incoming stocks I can see
Hi Dan, do you have any idea of a price for the G Sync QHD Ultrawide? The 34GK950G.

I’ve been scanning online ever since it was announced for a price but haven’t found one.

Apologies for being slightly off topic, but I couldn’t find a thread for this monitor and this question didn’t deserve it’s own!

Cheers

the price has not been set yet as it is still a few months out

Yes - I would think so

is there a price expectation you guys have? please be realistic and don't say £399 lol
Honestly, for the specs we know of the monitor I was expecting something around £1100 (sorry everyone!). Something to rival the new Alienware AW3418DW and X34P Which are both G-Sync UW 1440p 120hz Panels.

But I understand that this is Nano IPS compared to those which aren’t. I imagine that might push the price up slightly.

Edit: cheaper would be ideal! ;)

Nice, my replacement came in and is purrfect.
That's good to hear, panel lottery doesn't seem to be too bad with this monitor.

Have you tried testing brightness/uniformity and contrast ratio again with your new monitor? I only ask since, particularly for brightness, you said your previous one was fairly low.

to be fair - I wanted to get to that price point as well, as if we can offer a Nano-IPS panel at the current pricing I think it makes it a viable option :)

What exactly makes nano-ips better than regular ips? Is it just the wider color gamut and viewing angles?

If its 1100 pounds thats equivalent to 1500 USD. Which makes it 400 USD more than the x34p.

Although that is a straight conversion, which is true, that isn’t how pricing works on monitors in general now. It’s closer to 1:1 (which is ridiculous).

The X34P and AW3418DW can both be had for $1199 in US, but £1099 over here. I imagine the LG would be similar if that pricing pans out (let’s hope they can undercut them a bit).

I also think US prices don’t include taxes? Not 100% sure on that. So the price conversion looks a lot worse than it actually is.
