Current monitor is the AOC q3279vwf, which i'm looking to sell when my replacement comes, as current one is faulty.
I game a little, but not a hardcore gamer so not sure mega high refresh rate is a must, unless achievable at 1440p within my budget.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Kind of put off this brand of monitor now. Just received my replacement which the display port is damaged, also there seems to be dirt or something trapped under my screen as there's too black marks. Wish I just kept my last now and just ran it at 60hz or sold it on with the minor fault

If you call up their customer services and ask for a new replacement monitor instead of a refurb.
That's what I did when I had dead pixels and they sent a duff refurb replacement.

They just state I'm only eligible for refurbed item, but i'm stuck with my damaged replacement for now as they said they don't have any other units available

Sounds like rubbish customer service to me, it's not your fault they don't have a suitable undamaged refurbished unit available (maybe they should fix some of their broken ones a bit faster), the law doesn't state that you're only eligible for a refurbished unit (neither does their own warranty information on their own website as far as I can see ), they do! I fully understand you being put off AOC having being treated like that, have they at least given you a date as to when you could expect to have a decent replacement?

Ever since AOC was founded half a century ago, we have been specialising in display technology. It is our goal to provide you with a great display experience, whatever your specific needs.

Doesn't look like they can even live up to a goal that they boast about on their own website. :o

They have one opportunity to fix, if not refund. Those are your rights. Retailers tend to try it on at times because they know most people don't exercise their rights. They just complain and then take it up the you know what. Your rights are with the retailer, not the manufacturer.

If you are outside the 30-day right to reject, you have to give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any goods or digital content which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described.

You can state your preference, but the retailer can normally choose whichever would be cheapest or easier for it to do.

If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product.

You're entitled to a full or partial refund instead of a repair or replacement if any of the following are true:

  • the cost of the repair or replacement is disproportionate to the value of the goods or digital content
  • a repair or replacement is impossible
  • a repair or replacement would cause you significant inconvenience
  • the repair would take an unreasonably long amount of time.
If a repair or replacement is not possible, or the attempt at repair fails, or the first replacement also turns out to be defective, you have a further right to receive a refund of up to 100% of the price you paid, or to reject the goods for a full refund.

Doesn't sound like the replacement was fit for purpose.

Nah. They're pulling a fast one on you. Just say you are happy to wait for new replacement stock.

Danny, the monitor is outside of the 12 month window aswell, that's why i'm dealing with AOC and not the retailer.

Tamzzy, I told them i'd wait for replacement stock, even asked if they'd try and repair mine and return that one to me, just got to wait and hope they actually do get back to me when they get a replacement in and not just leave me hanging

if they can't get new stock, ask them for a cheeky upgrade replacement to the VWFD8! :D
if a like-for-like isn't possible, then they should offer something similar...and the closest monitor to the VWF is...the VWFD8...

when i had my monitor replaced, i had to wait about 1.5-2 weeks for them to get new stock on the VWFD8. but i had my VWF to use...so wasn't any biggies for me and i didn't chase them once they confirmed that they put a note in my RMA that i was to get a new monitor (and not a refurb unit)

There is no 12 month window. Anything like that "advice" a retailer may give you is in addition to your statutory rights, it does not replace them. And I'm aware of how that "advice" is sometimes abused in telling the customer they "have to", which is a lie.

Retailer is legally responsible throughout the product's warranty, which is three years in this case. In fact you can claim for up to six years but if you claim beyond a product's warranty your chances of success are slim.

Consider a letter to the retailer along the lines of: "Could you please show me how my statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 have been replaced by your advice to RMA through manufacturer after 12 months for a product that has 36 months warranty?".

well, my new replacement has arrived and same issue as the last, someone has rushed putting the back on which has lead to the display port to be pushed in/trapped under the monitor housing. Will get onto them again and try and get customer service to issue me with a new monitor this time
