32" LCD and a false wall - how?

Just bought my new 32" LCD, i intended on hanging it on the wall but the wall i intended on hanging it is a false wall (plasterboard), the tv weighs ~ 20kg's, what options do i have?

Buy a tv with a stand or buy a seprate stand

Ive seen a 50" plazma that temping me its the viera with the stand

You can get a massively deep bracket.

You should have timber uprights behind the plasterboard which are 16" apart. You can brace it with more timber then plaster over that to match the wall and fix the TV to that. It's what I've done and it looks seamless.

there are brackets that you can buy for plasterboard walls. im also looking at getting one as my lcd is too low on its stand.

If the plasterboard is double-skinned then plasterboard screws will be strong enough to take the weight as well.

As others have said, find the wooden battens that the plasterboard is attached and it is in these wooden battens that you want to drill your screws into, to secure the mounting bracket. Of course, if you have used decent, thick plasterboard, as someone mentioned above, it is possible to hang the brackets on the plasterboard and it should hold.

For the record, I dont think he is willy waving as 32" LCD tvs can be had for £350 these days.

thats not a reason to say its willy waving tho. willy waving would be something that the majority of others do not have (or could not have).
32" lcd's can be found very cheap nowadays.

My Mum's BF attached a 42" Samsung HDTV on a plaster board wall.. but he drilled and fix to the batons..

If you just attach to wall, it will eventually give way.
