Recently brought a Samsung Bordeaux LE23R87BDX 23", but wanting something a bit bigger for my new room.

Been looking at these:

Mirai DTL-632V200 32" HD Ready Widescreen LCD TV
Viewpia LC-32IEE4 32" HD Ready Digital LCD TV

What are they like? Any others to look at?

what sort of budget

the ones you mention are bottom of the market cheap-o jobs. They will most probably be allright, but they wont be anywhere near as good as the premium brands like sony / samsung / panasonic / toshiba etc..

Get the Samsung in 32"?
Wanting to spend as near as £400 as i can.

Was looking at the 32" Samsung due to i like the style & it is a great TV, but its close to £500.

What would you suggest for under £450ish?

I may look at spending a bit more if its needed.

Will be used for HD DVD's later, Xbox360, Movies, Laptop Display.

Or you could look on eBay for a Samsung LE32R74BDX, can probably get it for under £400. If not I would go for a more popular make and one that you have heard of.

I don't know

It's not worth getting a P.O.S for £350-400 just because you can't get the samsung in white though :)

Its not that.
I liked the one i brought recently because it was white & a good set.

However, having recently paid for that, i dont want to fork out another £500+.

bottom line

you'd be wasting your money buying another POS telly and would take a noticeable dip in quality

you either fork out the extra for the white

or sacrifice style and get the older model of the 32" samsung and get yourself a decent set

style or quality ?

I do want a decent set, i was just saying those were the ones i was looking at, what other 26-32" TV's.

Been reading a few reviews on a: Toshiba 32C3030 and seems quite highly regarded.

Whats this set like?

Good set, not got the style, black depths or connectivity of the samsung though - well, it does bar one HDMI port, but onyl has one universal setting for colour/brightness/etc so isn't great from a 'connectivity' point of view.

I'm actually in the process of deciding between a 32 or 37 c3030d or r87/88 at the moment and it ain't easy :)

Only problem is the wallspace it'll be put in, does not have a huge amount of space, width ways it is 110cm, thats with about 15cm cut off. Otherwise any bigger (even 115cm) it'll look a bit silly.

very good by all accounts

i think it can downscale 1080p can it not ?
Says so yes.

Im not sure which TV to get really, as i would ofcourse like to save some money because buying a wallmount etc.

And also need to buy a nice set up for surround sound (any ideas for a decent set up on a budget?).

Ive found a nice TV Media Stand from IKEA which if i dont get a WallMount could be ideal.

Which TV would you get yourself out of:

Samsung Bordeaux LE32R74BDX
Toshiba 32C3030

And the two mentioned in first post.

What sort of budget will i need for a nice set up for surround sound?

id get the toshiba

its this years model wheras the R74 is last years. I think the toshiba is better specified too.

also samsung have a dirty habit of using inferior panels in their 32" tvs. They have 3 different makes of panel. A samsung, an AU Optronics Panel, and ones made by Chei Mei. The latter is inferior and not S-PVA, but the still sell the TV on with the same specs. They've not publicly admitted it, but enthusiasts have confirmed all the details on-line as samsung put the panel serial numbers on.

as for surround sound. What sort of stuff are you going to put through it. You can buy a £250 amp and possibly some £300 speakers and get yourself a £550 system that you can then plug sky, ps3, xbox etc.. into.

Or you could pay say £200 and get yourself an all in one system. These have the av amplier built into the DVD player. They do have some external connectivity for PS3 etc.. but not nearly as much. Some of the cheaper all in ones dont have any external connectivity at all.

I think i'd prefer the look of the Tosh on the wall too.

Well i dont need anything too expensive for the speakers really.

Will be for Xbox360 & Consoles, DVD Player & Sky HD.

Nothing fancy needed really, just some half-decent speakers to go around the room i guess.

Need to get a new TV Media Stand as mine is now broken :(
