Yup, you can.Can you use an SATA2 drive in an SATA machine? I'm looking to upgrade my 80gb macbook drive.
You could try re-fitting the drive as you may have it slightly off centre or some other reason perhaps?
Checked disk diag, with no reported problemsIf you have run the disk diag stuff and it is clear then I would suspect more that its a loose fitting and so a reinstall of the drive could fix it. They will run hotter than the standard 5400rpm drives though so would expect the fan to come on a bit more often.

Apple said if the drive had a problem, the control unit would up the fan by default.Its less than a watt more heat.
Its not that bigger deal.
I researched this quite a lot before buying my MBP, but the uncertainty about loosing my warranty means im still on the 160Gb 7200 as standard.
