33 Thermal Materials comparison

Nice find. Just goes to show that with only one degree between abotu 20 products it proabably doesn't really matter which one you get.

Maybe if you can be bother to wait, AS5 still ought to pan out the best.

Shame they didn't do one last test and ran a AS5 for 200 hours just to see if it did drop 2-5C for those prepared to wait.

I stand by my MX-2, so much easier to apply and clean off compared to the Arctic Silver range, of which I still have tubes of 3 and 5.

Hmmm... no curing time?

That's a bit like F1 racing without warm/hot tires.

A bit of a big oversight, really.

Especially considering the last one of these reviews I read had Marmite and toothpaste coming out better than AS3/Ceramique.

Sadly no callibration method, so resolution changes of 1°C can be down to other factors then just the TIM.

The picture looks like a junkie's tipped his bag onto the desk :D

I rememeber an article I read (can't rememeber where) comparing different TIMs and marmite, toothpaste and even just a few drops of water initially produced better temps than Arctic Silver 5. The performance seemed to be no so much how well they conducted heat but how much they dried out over time (obviously the water, marmite etc failed once they dried out).

Very interesting results all the same...don't know where you would get the 'winner' in UK

The TIM Consultants grease is only available from themselves. There is a link in the article on the conclusion page.

OCZ Freeze is widely available and i have been using it for a couple of months now. It's good stuff.

Some of the TIM's are thicker compounds that require curing periods, so the test is fairly pointless unless you want immediate results. There are for example, tests that have the MX-2 beating the ACS5 on numerous tests, however, it took some time to settle in before it's potency was realised.
