Front finished. Will do the black piece tomorrow ‘cause it’s a four hour job.

Annnnd.. The first CNC error. Again, it was human (IE, me :D )

I set the black huge piece down in Easel and resized it to what seemed like quite small. In reality it was over 250mm wide, and a A3 sheet of acrylic is only 210mm wide :D As such after the first hourly check I could see immediately it was wrong. Thanks to this hourly check I saved a piece of acrylic, as had it started making its way up above "SPECIAL" I would have then not had enough.

That meant going back to the drawing board and making it a size that will fit. TIP - if you are working on a specific sheet material size then resize your bed so that things appear in correct scale. Had I done that in the first place I would have wasted 0 materials, as the issue would have been immediately apparent.

Any way, that job was to take over 5 hours. I wondered why it was so long !. It's now down to about 3 and 3/4 hours. Again I will check it hourly, but the immediate action seems much more in line with how it should be.

Also. A game, if you will. Can you spot the error in the drawings I uploaded regarding the yellow, blue and black pieces? again had I done that I would have been ordering another sheet of acrylic loool.

Back later, hopefully with a better result ;)

OK so no one spotted the error. Normally @Cenedd would as he’s usually like a rapid growing rash but I got a note from his mummy saying can he be excused ‘cause he forgot his PE kit. Actually no the silly bugger bought a incomplete house at our age and is now pre disposed forever muhahaha.

Any way the mistake was actually that the console is called a Neo Geo, not a Geo Geo. yup old duma’s here was about to machine Geo from yellow and blue. Which would have been bad, mmmkay? And would have had me having to do another £6 on yellow acrylic :D

Any way the EU adapter for the power cord never materialised. He then tried to blackmail me over £4 to close the case before the refund ffs. EBay stepped in and paid me.

Have ordered two from bangapong as I need another one for my old ROG phone 3.

Later today I’ll machine the amber parts. Blue a4 not arrived yet but that’s fine I have a mountain of things to do.

In a bit.

Ah well, you're assuming that we're going to mentally composite your layers to see the issue. Far too tired to do that! Besides that, it's not forever...it's just until I get young enough to get stuff done faster! ...that or magically richer! :D

And then you’ll do something extra crazy and move again :D

I know you well remember?

Any way as usual the missing EU adapter arrived with the other two I’d ordered ffs. So did the white mesh so that’s cool.

Will up some pics later. Decided to cut all the pieces for the logo with a 0.8mm bit running slower. It made a huge difference on the GECK.

Nah, this move was such a pain that the next move planned is in a box! ...although hopefully that's not too soon! Although if I don't replace/reinforce the joists in the workshop, either the load (rooftop garden) or the woodworm will cause it to kill me before my time....so there's that  Wonder if I can replace them all with steels :D

Haha.

Well it seems I should have enough blue to finish the top logo. So I loaded it up and it’s running now. Should be done around 5:30. The yellow is all done too.

I need to get onto designing the top and bottom but weekends are for Borderlands with my buddy in the USA so I think I’ll take a rest and crack on next week. Well, when I’m not at the hospital having X-rays of my buggered joints done.

OK pics. First up the yellow parts of the jigsaw. In the baggie are the black tiny inserts for the Neo and Geo faces.

Will bag it all up later. The blue is underway.

And my gratuitously over the top power cable is made. To prevent putting the euro one in the wrong way around I’ve glued it into the UK adapter shell. Now I know I know, things like this aren’t really necessary but it cost sub £15 all in and looks amazing.

And at a whopping £2.30 delivered we have our white filter mesh.

Also please note that the braided cable I’ve used for the power IS NOT sufficient or safe for use on a PC. A PC with a 1000w PSU for example could easily overwhelm the wires. In this case though? It’s running a 5v 5a PSU that’ll never draw anything near 5a. I’ve also fitted a 3a fuse to be sure.

You're bucking the trend there. Tradition seems to say that you should slap a 13A fuse in a 'kettle' lead* despite the connector only being rated to 10A, completely ignoring what's connected to it and even what guage the wires are! †

You're doing CNC wrong by the way. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to buy one and then come up with all sorts of stupid reasons why you can't actually use it! No? Just me maybe!

X-rays of joints: do you think there's enough to make one whole good one from the pair of us?! :D

* Yes, I know they're different...but colloquially and for simplicity.
† Lest there be any doubt, this is not a safe thing and a fuse should be chosen based on all the above criteria.
