Are these no longer in production? I thought this chip came out fairly recently? I can't find one anywhere especially at msrp.

I only want a budget CPU for 1080p gaming, and as far as I can tell the 3300x is the ideal choice. I should have snapped up a 3600 a few months back when they were retailing for £150-160 (where did £218 come from OcUK? wtf)

The 3600 is currently trending back towards £160 at various competitors, no doubt over black Friday it will hit that, or go lower still. As far as I can tell, the 3300x barely even existed.

Either they are legally obliged to put it at this price for 3 weeks, before they can then claim sale discount price and "discount it" back to sub £200 and look like the good guys

or

They know the new AMD cpus' are in short supply, people will give up waiting and just want to go buy a 3600 in the meantime, thus scalping those "waiting for 5*** series" for even more money.

Either way, it's not a good look. I can't imagine anyone is buying them at that price. Takes 2 seconds to see that competitors are pricing these £30+ less.

Has OCUK been taken over by another company or something recently? The prices I see at the moment are ridiculous for some stuff. I got my 3600 elsewhere for about £40 cheaper and my Radeon 5700XT was almost £100 cheaper for the same model. It used to be that the free delivery used to be really handy and offset the costs but their competitors are offering this now whilst being cheaper. Its a great site for choice but it needs an overhaul big time, not to mention a tidy up. Items that have been out of stock for almost 2 years are still showing up on the site!

No idea on that front, but whoever is in charge of this aggressive pricing needs a reality check.

Overclockers was sold to Case King some time ago.

In defence of OCUK, prices may be higher but most of their competitors dont have a discussion forum with a membership of this size. You can sell your old Hardware on here without the hassle you get on the auction site, if you have been a regular member on here long enough. You get free delivery when you have been a regular member here for a certain amount of time. RMA I've used only once (That was on a B'grade GFX card) but it was sorted without too much hassle. I've read some horror stories about after sales service elsewhere. If OCUK lowered their prices then they couldn't afford to run this forum & close it down which would be a shame.

Other things dictate prices too, Demand exceeding supply, $/£ Exchange rate, The 'bug', even Brexit effects prices!

So you pay your money & make your choice.

A fair point on the previous statements regarding little bonuses (but lets not pretend this forum doesn't make them money, it wouldn't be here if it lost it). The quoted bits above all exist for their competitors however, who are priced more competitively despite that.

The 3300x was basically a paper launch unfortunately. They were never really available. I have up and got a 3600 in the end.

Agreed. I must confess I went elsewhere for my last retail PC purchase, mainly because OCUK didn't stock what I wanted at the time.
