Howdy all,

So I currently have an LG 34UC79G, which is a 34" ultrawide 1080p 144hz monitor, ran by an i7 4790k and a GTX1080FE, but I'm wanting to make the jump to a 1440p ultrawide. Is there anything better on the market than the Acer Predator x34p? I've noticed that 1440p ultrawides max out @ 120hz, for now. Is this monitor likely to be refreshed/superceded anytime soon? I'd hate to buy it now and have a 144hz model replace it in a month or 2, or see the price of the x34p drop as a result.

I have an Acer X34P that complements my i7 7700k and gtx 1080ti really nicely. At the native resolution and ultra settings I'm not even hitting 120fps on some games. Tweaks will be required to stay above 100fps. Personally I wouldn't worry about 144Hz as you won't be getting anywhere close to 144fps.

I mainly play RTS games, primarily Total War Warhammer 2, and soon to be 3, these are very GPU intensive games during battles, honestly think SLI 1080ti's would struggle to max out a 144hz screen during some battles. I'll most likely go for the x34p, at £950+ I'm hoping it can last me 5yrs+, so will need to see me through my next case build too.

It's a great monitor but it's really not worth the current asking price. The panel lottery is also high. I had to return my first one due to uniformity issues, and the second has 1 stuck pixel, but I've kept it as the retailer gave me a 20% discount.

I bought mine on a black friday deal for £629.99. I would wait for it to drop in price again.

Wait for a deal around 650. It’s nice and with a 2080ti you can pretty much hover between 100-120fps even with battlefield v 64 man servers. The gsync cleans up any issues with Framerate fluctuations.

Don’t expect much from image quality. It’s a LCD with IPS so temper expectations accordingly.

Build quality is petty poor on the X34p even though I got on offer so made the choice . The Dell one would have been my first choice but the X34p offer was to good to turn down. Needs a good calibration aswell to get a nice image.

Well with student discount I can get the Alienware for £860, worth the extra £60? I've read there's more image adjustment options on the Acer though, which is a concern.

Tbh I don't want to spend more than £650 on either of them, as thats what the Acer drop to during Black Friday, but then I'm a tight git, and unlikely to see those prices again.
