most stands on the market max out at 8kg to 14kg

The Asus LG and Dell Alienware 3440x1440 wide screen monitors are 27kg+

Anyone use a widescreen monitor desk mount that can handle widescreen monitor weight?

Obviously not gonna spend 300 quid for a desk mount

Not sure which specific dell you were looking at but one of heaviest I could find is the below at 15.67kg. The LG I looked at was about 9kg and I never bothered looking at asus as at that point I’d guessed you’d got the 27kg weight badly wrong :p

Alienware 34 Curved Gaming Monitor - AW3420DW

Weight
15.67 kg

You'll find any mount/arm should work just fine... as mentioned, that's all you need to conside. You are looking at total weight with stand, and most of the weight is the in the stand. I'd be surprised if panel weighed more than 10kg.

Apologies

The 27kg is the stand the pole, the whole thing together, ok so the panel only is nearly 16kg thats twice the weight of nearly all the stands im looking at, they average around the 10-12kg

Placing a heavy panel nearly twice the weight wont hold the panel, you would have to stiffen the adjusters beyond the safe point and even then you wont be able to swing it up n down lefty righty

A you tube video has a guy who attached a 15kg panel to a recommended 11kg desk arm and he had to stiffen it so much he couldn't move the arm, it was not flexible, if he loosened it then it would fall on the desk

The wide screens are really heavy, 34 ich screens, the 32 inch and 38 inch widescreens are even heavier

The only other thing thats i saw was a TV holder, but they have to be bolted on a wall.

Anyone using a 34inch widescreen on a desk arm that is flexible?

If you read the specs for the AW3420DW the total weight including the stand (and packaging) is 16.9kg. The panel on its own is 6.8kg.

I had an X34 on an arm and it was nowhere near 16kg lol! I'm not sure what YouTube video you're referring to, but I've never come across any monitor that's 15kg on its own, not unless it was 40"+ or something very unique. Either he was using some very unusual monitor, or he just had a crappy arm mount.

Don't buy the Amazon basics ones. I got two and they couldn't handle my Acer Predator.
Plus, the grub screws are a one time thing. Tighten them once and they'll thread themselves.

I bought two of them earlier this year. One is no holding my old dell 2309 but using my Synology NAS to bolster it. The other one I bought is still in its box 9 months later!!

If you're willing to spend a little bit more and want a quality monitor arm to hold heavy monitor panels then I'd recommend looking at the Ergotron monitor arms, I'm using one of the heavy duty Ergotron MX arms for my main Dell 34 and it does a great job on that one. Plus it has the added benefit of having some built in cable routing to keep my screen area tidy.

Amazon basics must have gone down in quality then. I bought 2 of them in September 2016.

One holds a 32" Samsung Curved TV no problems (panel is 6.5kg)
the other washolding a Dell UltraSharp 29 Ultrawide Monitor - U2913WM (panel is 6kg) it now holds an alienware aw3418dw (panel is coming up for 7Kg). There are tension adjusters that allow you to tighten the top arm to allow it hold heavier pannels. Not sure if you have seen this in the manual so here is a link incase you haven't https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/A1pkKgetBnS.pdf - page 13 shows you where the tension mounts are.

The original Amazon basics arms were rated up 11kg and used to be re-branded ergotron LX's IIRC, maybe they recently changed them to something cheaper ?

Mine are still rock solid and have been through literally hundreds of adjustments without any thread striping or damage and the tension is more than adequate to keep the alienware where i want it

I understand Ergotron may have upped their game in the last couple of years, but if you're not a fan or are put off by their history - AllCam are a decent quality (and lower priced) alternative.
