Hi

wondered if anyone could help me to get my memory running as it should.

I have corsair vengenace 3466mhz led ram
on a Asus X99 deluxe II motherboard.

If I select xmp within the bios it shows my memory & at the correct speed then f10 to exit & save the system will not boot up at all, I have to clear the cmos to get back into the system again.
It will run fine at 2133mhz but nothing else

I'm unsure if there's something wrong with the memory or the motherboard.

would really appreciate some help on this matter

Thanks in advance

What CPU do you have? IIRC X99 can struggle with anything > 2133 if you don't tweak the CPU voltage to allow the memory controller to deal with fast speeds. However FWIW i have 3000mhz running ok on XMP with a 6850 on an Asus X99 Strixx.

3466 mhz is pretty hard to run on X99. It will likely require manual intervention and upping the System Agent. Normally 3200 mhz seems the spot most can do.

Try to set it to run at 3200 mhz as a base point and see if you can work from there.

Hiya,

I managed to run corsair vengenace 3400Mhz memory albeit on a different deluxe II motherboard which I had to RMA due to a fault. So I know this board can do 3400 @ least.

Hiya,

Its not just the board that's the factor, the RAM itself and the CPU more so at these speeds on X99 is just as important as getting the higher speed and XMP going.

a 3400 mhz kit working does not mean a 3466 mhz kit was, more so as the timings are unknown. The 3200 mhz is just a starting point. Use 3200 Mhz, set the timings and voltages and that should mostly work. From there up the speed, tighten the timings and adjust the voltages as needed.

I would set XMP to get all the timings in the system, then dial back the Mhz to 3000, run memtest and some stress tests in windows, confirm that's stable, then slowly creep up towards the XMP speed, tweaking other support voltages up as you go.

3466 is an extreme speed for X99.

Remember that the amount of RAM is also crucial. While it may not be hard to get 4 or 8GB running at 3400, getting 64 or 128GB to do it is a very tall order.

For 3466mhz in quad channel on X99 you need a very strong IMC.

X99 the sweetspot of BWE CPU is 3200mhz anything over this rock stable is a bonus simply because quad channel is very complex and very demanding on the IMC and memory training on the board.
