Hi guys

i need to get hold of a carry case/bag for it, will only have stock lens kit to begin with. Any recomendations?

I use a Hama Track Pack Rucksack.

can be had for £22 posted if you have a search.

that's about a fifth the price of similar lowe pro's!

Holds my 350 with battery grip, 60mm macro, 55-200mm, 28-70mm, 50mm prime and 170-500mm with no problems. Infact there's a little space spare for another lens and filters! :)

I'd have a think about whether or not you want a backpack or a shoulder bag. I bought myself a Tamrac backpack and whilst it does the job (it went round the world with me) it's absolutely infuriating having to find somewhere to sit down, put the bag down to get inside the main compartment, to swap lenses or even just get the camera out/in. I'm now planning on getting a Crumpler shoulder bag; i borrowed a friend's whilst spending a weekend in London and it was superb. You can swap lenses whilst standing on the spot, get things in and out etc.. and the build quality is excellent.

lowepro slingshot 100, it very easy to get kit in and out of it - it jsut pivots round on the strap.

just had a look at one at a high street store.. but they won't price match, so i ain't getting it from them seeing as though they want DOUBLE what other places do!!

Although good, I found it quickly becomes too small. Its also got nowhere to attach a tripod to. I also (and this is a personal thing) found having one diagonal strap quite uncomfy, especially when the bag was fuly loaded. I now have a 'Naneu Pro Alpha Special edition woodland cammo', which is much better. Its not 100% perfect, but its a very good bag.

i've deliberatly bought a small bag, i already have quite large nikon bag that can carry most of my kit - then i can simply take what i want from the big bag - and leave it in the car. Having a bag that i can get the camera out of without putting it down is very useful to me!

hmmm lots to ponder it seems, i do like the idea of quick access and dont mind the idea of one strap so maybe a slingshot style would be good. decisions, decisions.

I like carrying everything, all the time. Then I never have the excuse of missing a shot because I didn't have the right kit with me. Im also going to be buying a 'Think Tank Digital Holster 50' and attach it to my camera rucksack's waitstrap to carry the camera + memory cards etc. :)

I'd recommend the sling type. I used a rucksack type and when you see a shot, you have to make sure you have space around you so people don't knock in to you while you crouch get the rucksack off, and then fiddle about. The sling type means you just unclip the clip, pull out the camera take that shot before it's gone and put it straight back in again.

I use a Crumpler Stunner, it's a great size and weight. Perfect for a day out somewhere, highly recommended by me!

that's a luxury i don't normally have, not possible to carry much kit!

btw, check your emails!

As you currently only have/are getting the 350D + standard lens kit, then I'd have thought a shoulder bag would be fine, all you'll have in there is the camera, the lens (on camera), maybe a spare battery, and memory cards.

Once you have more kit then you may end up wanting more space, like a rucksack.

Another vote for the slingshot 100, if you only have a couple of bits to carry it’s a great little bag that doesn't get in the way or feel cumbersome. Can be had for £30 from a well know high street electrical store.

I have a things for bags i like a choice :)

Current selection:

Lowepro Micro Trekker (back pack)
hama Track (back pack)
Lowepro 100AW (sling)
Crumpler Bens Pizza XL (shoulder)
Lowepro Nova (or summat like that) (shoulder for zoom)

Plus i have another crumpler on the way for my long zoom + body.

If i had to choose one it would be the sling shot, but for everyday use
I like crumpler bags as they dont really look like camera bags :)

I just got my first Dslr today and need a bag, do most folk keep there lens on when in the bag ? Is dust a problem if you didn't and kept swapping ?

Hey MK, I have been looking into a combo-daypack/camera bag and the Naneu Pro looks like it might suit my needs.
I have a trip coming up in October to South America where I will be treking in the jungle for a couple of days and using a canoe to access areas.

Do you have any pictures of the bag that you could post/send me so I can get a better idea.
Reviews all seem to use the same stock shots and it's hard to visualise how "big" this bag is.
I like to be able to take it onboard the plane with me also...

many thanks if you can help me out,
Oxy

Ive not got any pics at the moment, but if you keep nagging me im sure I can sort some out. The bag is growing on me, but it does have a few design flaws imo. And personally I dont think its big enough. Ive used it for full days out and I would say its just about big enough for that. For a full day I pack; D40X body, 10-20mm, 18-55mm, 150mm, filters, Lee filters and holder, accessories (memory cards, batteries, cleaning stuff), tripod, waterproof jacket (+ a thin water proof jacket that stays in the bag all the time), waterproof trousers, waterproof cover for bag, waterproof cover for camera, fleece jumper, drinks bottle and food. All that lot is really a quite tight squeeze. There simply doesn't seem to be any really big, backpacking camera bags out there. One option you have is to find camera padding inserst and fit them into a proper backpack, but thats still not ideal. One day im going to get a company to make me a fully thought out huge backpack.

Hmm... I am going to have a seperate backpack holding all my clothes and footwear so the Naneu Pro would just be used for day trips into the jungle.
Here's what I am considering taking gear wise...Canon 400D, 35-80mm, 70-300mm, 10-20mm(to buy) and assorted filters, plus tripod.
Possibly a macro lense if funds allow but if not then a set of Kenko Extension tubes as i'd love to get close up on some Poison Dart Frogs :D

Have you thought of doing a mini-review? if you did, perhaps we can get it added to the sticky for people looking for a good all around daypack.
At any rate, if you do take some pictures feel free to send them to me - email in trust

cheers for your feedback, much appreciated.
