I built myself a new pc today and am looking for some help with overclocking it, i've had a look around for some guides but haven't had much luck. I'm a bit of a noob at overclocking, overclocked an i7 920 before but this seems to be quite a bit different. Hoping to get around 4.5Ghz, specs are:

CPU: i5 3570k
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
Ram: Samsung Green 1600Mhz 8GB
Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE

Had a play around with the bios but i don't really have a clue what to do. I know how to set the frequency but i'm not sure what i should have the other settings at, LLC etc, whether i should have turbo mode on or not?

Hoping to get an upgrade with similar specs as yours:
CPU:I5 3570k
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracers 1600mhz 8gb
Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE

So im going to note down advice from this thread too :)
Bump :D

Got it stable at 4Ghz with only changing the multiplier. Going to try for 4.5 now, got LLC at turbo, voltage around 1.25, do i need to change anything else? What about turbo mode?

Sounds good, how are the temps with the phanteks? :) Sorry I can't help with your questions but am interested in the setups' performance. ^^

Seems to be stable at 4.5Ghz, settings are 45 multi, 1.25v, LLC at Turbo, everything else on auto, max core temp was 70 degrees. Are these settings ok?

Sounds good, Looked at a YouTube video on over clocking the 3570k same motherboard cpu and cooler. Your lucky :P at that OC he got around 85 degrees maximum temp. Although he was running a bench set-up. If i was you i'd try to keep load temp below 75 so you could try 4.6ghz
