I need a new controller for PC and have been told that the 360 one is the best to get...however looking on amazon i can see the 360 wired one and the 360 wired controller for windows! what the difference? i assumed if they are both USB they would both work??

No difference. However look into the wireless version, or alternatively buy the official blue tooth dongle so you can use a wireless one you might already have.

Na don't get the wireless and mess around with a dongle aswell just get the xbox 360 wired controller, aslong as it's usb and official it will work.

I got mine for £1.50 a week no interest for 20weeks at the tinywoods :p

the difference is that it says 'for windows' and has a driver cd. (if i recall correctly)

but as the guys said, thats all.

get a wired one for no battery hassle

Buy the normal xbox 360 wired controller, it is lighter/ no messing about having to replace/ recharge batteries and cheaper.

You don't need any additional cd/ drivers as windows will automatically detect and install them for you.

Been playing sleeping dogs using mine- wish id started using it earlier for games like gta!

For certain games like GTA4 I use a Sony Dualshock 2 (PS2) with a usb adapter & a piece of software called pinnacle profiler to map the joypad.

Tried the 360 pad as it'd be much simpler to set up but didn't get on with it, if I'm using a joypad it has to be a Dualshock 2, the legacy of my console days before I moved on to pc gaming :p

PS3 controllers work on PC too, over USB or Bluetooth.

LOL

There is far more messing about with a wired one then the wireless one...
I used to have a wired one before my wireless one and i hated having to unwind & rewind the cable up and pug/unplug it everytime i used it..

This ^^^

I also got a charger which allows for two batteries to be charged (handy as both me and my son have a pad), and a play and charge kit on the PC. So can always play even with a flat battery. The official batteries last for ages as well. I mean the official rechargeable battery of course. Just pick the pad up, press the circle and away we go :)

I don't unwind squat. You just have to have good cable management. But if you like buying all this other stuff to go with your pad. More power to you :)
