360 Controller for pc?

For certain games like GTA4 I use a Sony Dualshock 2 (PS2) with a usb adapter & a piece of software called pinnacle profiler to map the joypad.

Tried the 360 pad as it'd be much simpler to set up but didn't get on with it, if I'm using a joypad it has to be a Dualshock 2, the legacy of my console days before I moved on to pc gaming :p

You must have tiny hands. :D

As others have said, grab a wired controller, if you want it cheap get it second hand, should be fine. Wireless controllers are about twice the price and an additional £10 for plug and play (assuming you want to be anti-moronic and avoid batteries). Also, there is most likely a minuscule amount of input delay with them, as with all things wireless. You won't notice it but it is there, and wireless hardware always breaks before wired. There really isn't enough pros with wireless technology these days to warrant a double price.

PS anyone who winds the cables of any controller is a bell. It not only makes the wires bent and stiff, it also greatly kills their lifespan. Don't do it.

The 360 controller generally works just great

I had several controllers around from owning a console, so I only needed the receiver, no fuss.
The battery life of my play and charge pack is a bit low now though, it's seen quite a bit of use.

I would like a black controller though, couldn't find a black cabled one when i bought this (which is incidentally when the wireless one didn't work 100% on windows)

I have a black receiver and pad, because my whole setup is black. I do find this thread a tad bit funny, PC gamers who shell out a lot of money on systems and extra fluff but want to be cheap and use a wired pad. Amazes me that does lol

I got the wireless one great for playing old games and works great with LEGO games :D

wasnt about being cheap. the wireless pad didnt work properly in windows when i bought the wired one

but now my pc is white so it actually works :P

I have a wireless logitech pad and it always give me trouble, it never connects and the battery seems to drain when I'm not using it.

Going to buy wired pads now on, as previously posted u can hide the wire when not in use.
