Was playing COD3 over the weekend quite a bit but my 360 crashed twice!

Not just a disconnect or the game crashing, the whole system froze. I had to turn the maching off and back on.

Is this a known issue? should i take it back? it's only 1 month old!

I have been getting the same recently with RB6 vegas. However there is no pattern nto the crash (ie same place, same length of time) I can play for ten minutes and get a crash, reboot then play for 3 hours perfectly fine.

Speaking to the people I am playing with they have been experiencing the same problems so I don't know whether it is my 360 or the game or the firmware of the console causing issues.

I will probably send my back to microsoft and get a replacement (simply because I want to keep my HD) and their devliery for me (I had 4 cores replaced) has been swift.

how do you send it to MS then?

I would like to keep my HD too!

The crashes aren't concerning me yet, but if i get anymore i will send it back i think

A mate of mine had it crashing a bit back, He took it from under his TV, And put it into a well ventolated place (On top of his TV) And then pointed a household fan at the box. Seems to have worked for him, as it's been a while since hes complained to me.

Ive had CoD3 freezing on me, its only started happening past couple of days, hope it doesn't have to go back to MS :(

Mine's done it twice since I bought it.

I expected to reboot to the ring of death, but *touch wood* nothing yet.

I left it on all night downloading some demos, and it was fine, so no idea what causes it.

Have you guys noticed anything different since that big update recently? My console seems a bit slower, and the DVD drive seems noisier.

People are taking this too far now. A couple of lock ups and they panic. Even my rock solid PS2 locked up every now and then. When it dies take it back, not worth the bother for a couple of freezes. People seem to want the 360 to be completely lock up and freeze free. That's never happened before and likely wont ever happen.

It's the first console i've ever had lock up! and when the thing is only 1 month old and you get 2 lock ups in a weekend you can't blame people for wondering if their £300+ purchase isn't as it should be?!

I will give it another week or two playing COD3 and see what happens. if it starts getting more regular, they can have it back!

i wondered if it was a heat issue. Mine is just standing by the side of my TV stand so there's not much around it.

Seems daft to buy a console and then have to buy an aftermarket fan (pardon the pun) to keep it cool.

My Xbox and PS2 have been lock up free over the many years I've had them.

Fair enough but any little glitch and people are swapping them out. If you can't put up with the odd lock up don't bother sending it back get your money back. I know no one thats not had some form of problem whether it be the odd disc read error, lock up on live, lock up in SP, lost saves etc.

If you can't live with that on occasion get your money back.

But it shouldn't lock up in the first place.

It doesn't have to put up with buggy 3rd party software like a PC, and I can't remember the last time my PC locked up.

None of my other consoles ever crashed, apart from my 1st Mega Drive. I took it back, got a replacement and didn't have another problem with it.

The Xbox is an unreliable product and should never have been released with such issues.

Had mine since christmas. It's crashed once in PGR 3 and once in Just Cause. No related pattern though, i think it's just a badly made console.

I've had lock ups on PS2, DC and original xbox, so it's not just the 360. Also had a Jaguar completely break.

Had one lock up on the 360 when exiting the R6V demo.

Maybe too many people standing them on carpet and blocking the bottom intake (assuming it's stood up). I always put a flat surface under it.

Theres a number you ring up, you speak to someone, explain the situation and then they organize for a courier to come and pick up your console (literally console and power brick only), about 3 days later you get sent a 'new' 360.

I would point out of the 4 core units I sent back 2 were DOA (same manufacturing date) and 2 died with the 3 red lights.

My current one is just annoying me at the moment. It only ever seems to crash when I really don't want it too (like after being on the winning team of a 100 point sharpshooter match on RB6 just before it tells you the points you received)

maybe u guys should try buying an intercooler. keeps the innards of yoru 360 cooler and might help lower the rate of crashes. downside is it will make your 360 louder...

The Megadrive wasnt as complex though; its like saying your push bike didnt let you down, but your motorbike stalled a few times

(worst ever analagy...i think so)

You shouldn't be in a position that you need to buy an aftermarket cooler for a console, there's no excuse for them overheating or crashing in their standard config.
