360 crashes....

You shouldn't be in a position that you need to buy an aftermarket cooler for a console, there's no excuse for them overheating or crashing in their standard config.

I dont see why many people have so many problems, ive had my new one since Sept and bar 1 crash it never has - and i have all sorts of crap on top of thing blocking up the vents; and im a heavy gamer.

<shrugs> random - i think CoD3 is known to have crashing problems though isnt it?

Just got a new 360 for xmas and the first game I played through was COD3 of which I had about 3 lockups during the game. Then I played GOW and had a number of can't read disks, then Saints ROW and some weird freezes and the odd free or two in Rainbow 6. Defiantely think the drive on mine is dodgy as it often seems to struggle loading something and I can hear fluttery noises coming from it. To cap it all I got please insert this disk in a 360 yesterday with Splinter Cell DA.

Just wish I'd never sold my first one as this new one(Manufactured october 2006) seems a bit ropey.

I've had a number of lockups recently, plus "insert disc" messages. Is this a hardware problem, or is it anything to do with the numerous xbox updates?
I only own 4 games, and to be honest, was only playing them one or twice a week. 360 is several months old.

I have been getting the same recently with RB6 vegas. However there is no pattern nto the crash (ie same place, same length of time) I can play for ten minutes and get a crash, reboot then play for 3 hours perfectly fine.

Speaking to the people I am playing with they have been experiencing the same problems so I don't know whether it is my 360 or the game or the firmware of the console causing issues.

I will probably send my back to microsoft and get a replacement (simply because I want to keep my HD) and their devliery for me (I had 4 cores replaced) has been swift.
Same here but R6 vegas only crashed on split screen on me  I'm on my second box because my last one was scratching the discs, but r6 is still butchered.

Theres a number you ring up, you speak to someone, explain the situation and then they organize for a courier to come and pick up your console (literally console and power brick only), about 3 days later you get sent a 'new' 360.

I would point out of the 4 core units I sent back 2 were DOA (same manufacturing date) and 2 died with the 3 red lights.

My current one is just annoying me at the moment. It only ever seems to crash when I really don't want it too (like after being on the winning team of a 100 point sharpshooter match on RB6 just before it tells you the points you received)

thanks....i'll give it a couple more weeks and see what happens.

If you only send the console and the power brick, do they still send you a premium console back? i.e with the silver dvd plate?

i pressume they test it first before sending you a new one?

The Megadrive wasnt as complex though; its like saying your push bike didnt let you down, but your motorbike stalled a few times

(worst ever analagy...i think so)

lol, that's true.

Although at the time it was produced, it was a complex bit of kit.

I mean a 16-bit console... woah  ;)
