My 360 shows the logo for ages, then drops the menu as if theres no disc in it, and says unplayable disc, am I right in thinking it's kicked the bucket?

I'm having a similar problem with mine, from time to time it will habg on the logo screen, it has also started poping up the disc unreadable error during gameplay and freezing when playing, not sure if it makes any difference but it only happens on Lost Planet?

I have that sinking feeling in my gut thats telling me its on its way out :(

If it's under warranty I would seriously consider giving MS a ring.

Mine started out with the odd disc unreadable message and only got worse.

You could leave it and hope it doesn't get worse, but I don't fancy your chances.

If your worried, take it back and get it replaced?

Not sure the deal with the disc error, a few people are getting it - not sure if its the games, or the drive or what.

Possibly the new update they just did. They did mention that they were updating text which would explain in more detail what was wrong when a disc could not be read.

V2 was just an experiment, they never officially said it was going to be released to my knowledge, so I think you'll be waiting a very long time even if they end up releasing some sort of V2.

It's true that no official announcement has been made, but I wouldn't expect it too be too long before a revised model is released.

Every console has non performance related changes made to them to cut back on costs and increase efficiency.

My Xbox 360 (about 2 months old) has started saying that 'The disk is unreadable'. Now this only seems to happen on GOW but I've looked at the disk and there are no visable scratches (or even finger prints). Should I be thinking about taking my 360 back or am I just being a little paranoid?

Depends how frequent it is.

Mine does it occasionally with vegas but not enough to annoy me.

Does it do it with any other games?!

No, just GOW. Only just started happening lately. It maybe happens every 3 or 4 times I play it. I'll see if it gets any more frequent befor taking it back I think.

You have two options really.

You can leave it and hope it doesn't get worse.

Or do something about it now.

My first 360 started out this way. It occasionaly wouldn't read FN3 (even though the disc was perfect). After a couple of months doing this it got to the point where it wouldn't read any game but it would still read dvds for some reason.

If you have any warranty left I would advise getting it sorted.
