360 Died

If you overheat the CPU/GPU you could cause permanent damage, even more serious damage to those chips that can only ever be explained by serious amounts of heat. If you want to wrap your 360 in a towel then do it - I'm not doing it for an extra 20 minutes of playtime. I just want a new xbox

It's already damaged itself though :)

I go back to what I originally said - when malc asked how you could tell if its been wrapped in towels - I'm saying because there could well be visible damage to the chip/s

The fact is, nobody knows how they can tell specifically, right? But do you really want to be the one to TEST that theory and risk your warrenty? Becuase I dont :) Not for a few hours of extra playtime

Mine ain't broke, if it was I would test it for sure, due to it already being broken and having a 3 year warranty on it :D

Someone posted a couple of PDFs here a few days ago about the 3RROD problem and in one of them it does state not to do the towel trick because like RoachycaL said, it does damage components inside the console.

Just send it back to MS and get it fixed, mine had the same problem and is on it's way back now and only been a little over two weeks.

Also as Im now Falcon hunting - does anyone know how many of the new elites are falcons? Ive heard reports of them cropping up.
