Naffed laser? Is it under warranty by any chance? My 360 kept crashing, I took it back to the store and they did me a straight swap for a new one. :)

nope no warranty bought it pre owned well i might try n register it anyway coz it still had 1 month of free xbox live when i got it and the last user might not have registered it ,

suppose its worth trying to blag a free repair if not guess all just need to figure out how to extract the drive key and clone that onto a new one and voila cookin with lasers

if you cant get a free repair, just buy another drive of the same make & swap the PCB over. i did that when the drive packed up on my old 360 :)

I dont have trouble with every game, just one. Saints Row! Whenever I pop it into the tray it just comes up as unreadable media, have tried cleaning the disc, have tried a lens cleaner, But no luck at all.

The Disc is in perfect condition no scratches at all not even a finger print on it. Its very strange, I have no problems with any other disc they all work straight away.

ah, on mine the 360 started freezing up on forza 2 nurburg mainly. then on most tracks, then whatever game i put in didnt register on the dash (unreadable). that was all probably over the course of a few weeks.

You can get replacement lens kits for them, or like spaceman said get the exact same drive and swap pcb. Only other fix is much more complicated and involves firmware and changing the key which you don't want to do if you use live.

bobby do you not change the key too be the same as the previous one , gonna be annoyed if a get banned from live coz ma xbox is screwed hmm time shaft the micro am goin too see if this xbox has been registered or not

yeah you would change it, I don't even know if you would get banned just for changing the key as the firmware should still be a legit one but with just they key changed. The lens kit is really cheap though so would try that first.

cheers bud phoned ms console already registered so no chance of a repair , will need to get the right screwdrivers for the job before buying a lens worth doing defo :)

I got a set of torx keys from local hardware shop thats all you need really to open it, never done a lens myself but it is ment to be fairly simple. I kicked my old xbox off the desk which annihilated the dvd drive in it and I managed to swap them over no problem.

cheers malco a can find the info no problemo, i have modded my old xbox 1 and quite good with pcs so just a matter of reading the instructions really , bobby ... was that intentional sounds like youd have too go out your way too kick an xbox off a desk , either that or a terrrible accident

Same happened to my friends xbox360, he ended up buying a new one but has given me the one that broke to fix & keep so I gotta find a way of fixing it now heheh ^_^

If I can't do that one then I'll attempt his RROD 360, already tried once got it down to 2 red lights :D

Mine's got exactly the same problem, took me 20 minutes the other evening to get it to recognise my GoW2 disc. I find verbally and physically abusing it sorts it out in the end :D.

Can see me buying an arcade soon to replace it :(

What makes me laugh is that the drive will read DVD films fine & the copy of resident evil 5 demo I got from a thread here. But no original 360 games lol
