360 failure rate

Seems to be an awful lot of "my Xbox is broken" threads. I only got mine a month or so ago, is it more or less certain it'll end up going for repair? It sits horizontally and both it and the PSU have amble room for heat to escape..

I'd be lost without it!

they aint bad at all, you only hear about the bad ones, dont worry! I had mine since launch and its :cool:

That's true, people only make threads about broken ones. I wish they would stop posting though because does everybody really need to know if your xbox has died? :rolleyes:

From all the complaints it seems I took a real gamble on an import machine on ebay.. but I haven't had a problem with it at all

I remember the MS reported return rate was around 'only' 5%...

Which apparently is lower than the industry standard. As said above, most people out there aren't going to have problems out there, if people posted 'OMG MY XBOX IS WORKING ALL THE TIME' then we'd have a serious amount of threads.

I've had mine since launch day and haven't had a single issue so far, and I treat my 360 like crap. It sits on my desk though as you've seen with the power pack aka ghostbusters ecto-trap sitting on top of my 8 way trailing lead. 3 of my mates have them too (jan 06) and they've had no issues yet.

Last year upon buying mine and hearing about the failures on various forums, I'd expected mine to be dead by now, but its still going strong. Luckily MS have a good replacements service.

5% my bottom. I reckon its nearer the 17-20%. All the polls ive seen on forums are around that mark. The one on here is at 20% and that doesnt account for the ones who have had a failure since voting ok.

What happened to the reviewer stats from the ocuk 360 owners, I count find the place to amend my data on my 360??

Had mines since launch day not had a problem with it, and that along with its power brick are on a shelf under my TV.
It used to sit on my desk next to the radiator before i got my new TV lol

I tell you what though, this new/recon one I have runs much much cooler than my last one did. My last one was a room heater this one is kicking air out of the back that is many degrees lower than my last one.

I think the problem is that MS send you out refurbished second-hand consoles and not new ones. These seem more likely to break in my experience.

Im on my second, first died within one day, although the ventilation may have sort of contributed to that.

Going strong for months on the second one now, you only hear about the bad experiences, I have been very pleased with mine overall, the support if it does go wrong is really good so it does not keep me awake at night.
