360 done the RROD again, so i redid the x-clamp fix (this time using one of the new GPU style heatsinks (one with the heatpipe and extra heatsink).

No RROD but as soon as a play a game the fans got to max speed within a few mins.

Last night it done 3 red lights, that it was over heating.

Checked how hot the heatsinks were, the GPU heatsink was hot, the CPU heatsink wasnt as hot.

Have i done something wrong when redoing it, ive used A/S 5 on them.

The CPU heatsink should be getting hot enough that it's uncomfortable to touch. I would suggest something's not done up / attached right.

seems the other way around on mine, GPU HS i could cook on it. CPU H/S gets warm, but id say not hot enough for the fans to got at full max.

360 is in the dashboard now. been on for about 1 min fans are getting faster and faster, CPU heatsink is warm/cool.

2 mins now and the fas are a full whack - GPU H/S is hot, CPU H/S is just warmsih

It may be too tight!

I fixed one once and it did this when the heatsink was done up too tight!

Hey Spinal

I had the exact same problem when i did mine and I opened it up and found I'd put the heatsink on the wrong way round by 90 degrees!

This meant that air was not passing through the blades on the heatsink but just bouncing off it, maybe you should check that?

Cheers Ferret

It's not possible that it could be the wrong way as it's the new GPU heatsink with the heatpipe that come of and around the CPU heatsink.

GPU heatsink is also rectangular, and the mounting holes are offset to one side :). But I think Ferret was meaning the CPU heatsink anyway :).

Yes I was, sorry didn't know there was a new type of heatsink.

The one i have can be put on the wrong way round, and of course that is exactly what I did! Doh
