Hello

A friend of mine bought a 2nd hand Xbox360 from Amazon...I know....bad move.

She has had the 360 for about a month and when playing it last night the gfx went slightly funny while playing on fable 2.....it looked like a massive reduction in colours. She restarted the xbox and it sounds like its booting up as normal, the disc is spinning the fans are going (stupid loud) but no picture is being received by the TV.

I have ruled out any issues with the cables as I tested it with a new HDMI lead and sill had no joy.

It looks to me like the gfx card inside the machine has blown? With it being a month on since buying it from muppet who sold it her....I would guess she just has to accept the loss? Im sure a lack of response from the seller will be expected

That's a known issue, and has happened to me (nearly 4 year old Elite).
Look at the manufacture date on the back, if it's under 3 years old, I'd contact Microsoft and ask them about it, I personally think it is in the same vein as the E74 error, which from April 2009 was included under their 3 year warranty scheme.

Yep, common fault. Easy fix by doing the oven bake and x-clamp fix, but there's no guarantee how long it'll last after. It may only be a few weeks, it may still keep going a year or more down the line.

Having said that, in my experience fixing the 'no video' problem usually lasts much longer than a RROD fault or E74.

It was sold second hand without warranty, the seller wasn't to know it was going to pop a month later.

Unfortunately being angry at the seller isn't the appropriate action, it's your friends fault for not researching the reliability issues.

lol

I already said it was an error buying a second hand 360 if you read my first post.

Tbh if you heard the sound that comes from the machine I wouldn't be surprised if this was once faulty and had the old overheating to melt the solder back in place trick done on it.....so yes the seller is a MUPPET, a very big muppet :) loads of people do this, sell the consols when they are close to death.....her mistake was buying it yes, but lots of vulnerably people have this done to them
