360 Guitar Hero II: stuck at sign in screen!

Hi, just bought this game, but I have a problem. I'm stuck at the sign-in/continue without saving screen! When the game loads, I can see the 'Press any button' screen for like a milisecond and then this screen comes up right away. But the problem is that nothing happens when I press the green button on both the X-Plorer guitar controller and my 360 pads. Hopefully the guitar controller isn't busted already...

There was also some update I had to install when I first ran the game, which I did.

If anyone is familiar with this and knows how to overcome it, I would be so grateful because I've been looking to play this game for ages!

Forgot to add that I am signed in to XBox Live, prior to running the game. I have even tried all 3 accounts that I have and I still get this blasted screen

have you tried deleting the update/Game data from the dashboard and then downloading it again??

Ok, for some reason, I managed to get past the screen, but only with the pad. I can't seem to select anything from the menus using the guitar

If I press the round XBox dashboard button, I can then navigate around with the colored buttons and D-Pad. And when I play a song, none of the colored buttons work! Hope it's not a dodgy guitar...

Update: Ok, I've had a look around and it seems that my guitar model is one of the 2 iffy ones; the model number is 95055

Gonna have to take it back to GAME tomorrow and get a new one

Update 2: Ok, just a min after the last update, I can now navigate fine around the menus. If this continues to work fine, I dunno whether to keep it, or exchange it while I can for a more 'reliable' one.

If it runs fine for the rest of the night it may be ok, i just wouldn't throw out your receipt. But if it isn't much hassle for you to take it back, it may be worthwhile.

My guitar is also one of the so called iffy ones, had it since the game was released without any of the reported issues (and it getes a fair bit of a hammering from me!) so i'd try it for a few days, if nothings wrong, keep it.

i had the problem stuck at loading it was because the save game was corrupt deleted it started again works fine now

Most of the guitars had that number and the update for the game fixed any problems there was with them. It was generally the whammy bar that wasn't working properly. The update fixed that and I've been using the guitar with no problems since the game was launched.
