Ok so i bought a 360 of my freind ver cheap

its a core and no hdmi. I plugged it in to my 26" hd tv and it looks really bad, if i bought a vga cable for my 19" monitor will it be better or worse. Or using a vga cable on my tv?

Thanks Pat

How many cables have you actually got plugged in? Describe them to us because it sounds like you could be using composite, not component.

[EDIT] Oh and what game is it?

It is indeed, you need to nab yourself either a component or VGA cable and hook it up to your tele, make sure you get the official Microsoft cables as it can be hit and miss with 3rd party ones. It'll look loads better once you have it hooked up correctly. I wouldn't bother with a monitor personally, i've tried that with my PS3 in the past and it just doesn't compare to even a half decent HDTV.

It depends if your 26" is HD or not. I had a loan of my dads 26" Panasonic, and while it connected through component, it only took a 480p signal.

Chances are it will be hd, and you just need to switch the switch on the back to HD, and then change the resolution to 1080i.

im going to get a vga as i can switch between my tv and monitor.

Do i need to get an official microsoft one or is it like a hd cable where it doesnt make a difference which one you buy?

Also can i link the sound up from the vga cables (as i see they have a white and red cables) to my 3.5 mm jack speakers?

I switched from component on a 32" HD (it looked fine though tbh) too VGA on my 22" LCD monitor (Looks even better)

I just prefer being sat close to the screen, but it does look a lot better.

Firstly - go for the official cable, VGA carries an analogue signal so the quality of the cable is still important. I've heard very mixed reviews from non official cables so just play it safe.

[EDIT] Nothing to see here.

Secondly - yes you can do that, you need to buy a connector that consolidates the two phono plugs into a 3.5mm jack. Your local hardware store will stock em.

If you get the official cable you don't need to buy the adapter. It comes with one.
