What sort of cables would I need to hook my Nec 20wgx2 monitor up to my xbox 360 as I've just brought a core pack yesterday and wanna try it out

If any sort of speakers are going to be used, you may also need to get the correct audio connectors. The Official VGA cable comes with 2x Phono (Red/White) connections, but also, unlike other non-Official VGA cables, comes with a Phono => 3.5mm audio jack connector. This should be fine for connecting to the vast majority of audio recieving devices, except perhaps connecting a pair of speakers directly to the 360, where a 3.5mm phono coupler would be required.

I would be connecting them to the same audio cables as a scart The red and white ones.

where?
i've not seen a 3.5mm jack on mine...just the digital on and phonos :confused:

Well when it was launched, a separate adapter came with the official cable, something like this:

I'm sure somebody can confirm this.

Maybe they've stopped doing them now... or I'm going mad, one of them. They only cost a few quid anyway.

You also get/got a VGA gender changing adaptor included, which is essential if your monitor has a captive VGA cable.

Yeah, as in the monitor has a male plug coming off of it rather than a female socket and detachable cable.

The VGA cable in incapable of displaying 1080i resolutions., plus 720p is better anyway.

The highest VGA runs at is 1360x768... and for the standard aspect 1280x1024. Obviously 13x7 is the best res if you have widescreen.

I use it on mine at 1280*768 to maintain the 16:10 aspect ratio.
