well after constant 3 red quadrents on cold boot my 2nd xbox360 went balls up last night. went to boot it and got 1 red quadrent in the bottom right. error code 74 i think it was.

tried rebooting 20 times, left it over night. still doing the same this morning.

called game to see if they had any in, yes they did so i asked them to put one aside as mine is knackered AGAIN!

gutted as I finnally picked up a hard drive after 4 months of trying.

just picked up my new one, looks as though its a later model. few extra stickers on the console that wernt on the previous 2.

apparantly the error code is linked to the hard drive. my mate had the same and sent his back to microsoft. they just changed a setting and it was fine. but i couldnt be bothered waiting 8 days to get it back. plus it was having those cold boot problems so it was a good excuse.

heres hoping its third time lucky becuase im getting a little sick of this now. really isnt accepable to have this level of problems with a new purchase.

Ouch 3rd one eh??, damn thats gotta hurt. Thankfully im still on my first one..touch wood....although a month ago i got a red quadrant when i booted it up but since then its been perfectly fine.

I feel lucky to still be on my first one, but can't help thinking mines gonna go any day soon.

I've still got to ring M'soft about mine...

I get stars and gfx glitching, but it's the hassle of sending it off etc:(

Plus I don't want to send off my HDD and loose everything.

had mine since release day, dont think ive ever noticed any red quadrants. been fine really apart from it crashing once when i tried to bring the dashboard up while a pgr3 live race was loading.

Had mine since release day too, no problems with mine, had one crash and that was on loading a race for burnout and that was after the console had been on 32 hours. So I dont blame it :P restarted and it was fine.

I had two crashes resulting in 3 red quadrants last night, i pretty much died inside thinking that my modded box has left the building UNTIL i found out it was a dodgy kettle in the kitchen spiking the power supply

Binned the kettle and now back to rock solid gaming :D

Hack seems a bit harsh, admittedly it did start out like that but i thought it ended up pretty good ;)

Search for "cooler xbox360" for pics :)

It was tounge in cheek mate :) That was the initial reaction if I remember correctly when you first posted about it. The last I saw it was very much a work in progress, so I haven't seen the finished results.

Lots of people seem to have the same problems and end up replacing lots of expensive kit (often in warranty which is fortunate for the user, unfortunate for the manufacturer). Anything above £100 gets a surge protector round here just in case :)

Where you being held at gunpoint when you typed that?

Nope, if you don't say they are fine, and that to be on your 3rd/4th/5th/6th etc... 360 then you get flamed, i should know. ;)

When i was saying it was not normal i got a barrage of 'it is normal, 360's are fine etc...' stop your whinging blah blah blah....., if they are on to their umpteenth machine its most likely user error, they have probably got them in draws etc... so the heat can't get out'.
