360 Oblivion..

Picked this up a few weeks ago, and didn't play it much, now I am signed off after an operation for two weeks, I have clocked up 30 hours this week so far, done naff all of the main quest, just exploring and doing the side quests and gazing at the sunsets :D and getting Champion in the Arena :D

Last RPG I layed was Dungeon something or other, I d try Baldurs gate on the PC but it wasn't easy to pick up, this is, fantastic game by far my favourite at the moment, even though I became a vampire and got hacked off with it and had to find the cure.. that was tedious ;)

Re-bought this today. Done the update and it seems very chpppy, not at all like I remember. What was the button you had to press to clear the cache? If it's like this all the time I'll get the PS3 version and just start again.
This trick has allowed me to play Oblivion problem free after all kinds of trouble when I first bought it.

Don't turn on console with the disc in! Turn on console, open tray and put in disc. Now click on close tray by pressing A on the pad and keep the button pressed until the game has loaded. Do this everytime you play the game and all will be well ;)

I'll give it a go later ;)

Grrr.

Played this game problem free for months unpatched. Downloaded the patch after reading this thread and already had 2x dirty disc errors  :(

edit: make that 3

It deffo seems more chopy than I remember if when I had the game last, pre-update.

Clearing the cache by holding A when the game loads up helps things

As for the patch it also fixed the bugs where you could take infinate money off an early character and a few other intresting "bugs"

Also Oblivion is an xbox KILLER so be warned, it is highly DVD intensive and has killed loads of drives (I was getting disc read errors more and more up to one every 30 mins) search the net for read errors and they are all for Oblivion and a few for graw2 (another high intensity DVD game)

Anyway mine culminated in it getting an error as I went into another area so it saved as it was streaming off the dvd read errored and corrupted my 30 hour save game!!

I was really enjoying it but so can't be bothered to replay all the early level lameness :(

On a pc I would have had a million save games but on a console I foolishly let it get on with it so only had the one

xbox is 5 months old and going back on Tuesday for another which is a shame as I have been loving this and not regretting my move from PC to 360

I also get the stuck dvd draw as well

Nice

Anyway the game itself is ace and works well on a big old 1080p Bravia ;) slouched on the bed.

i had one dirty disc error earlyer playing this :( ive also noticed a few scratch's on the disc itself.

hopefully its nothing, but il keep a close eye on it, as the xbox isnt even a month old yet.

not played it on pc or 360 but gonna get it once i finish all work, sounds like its a game to be played in a leather chair in HD!

nice and cheap now though hopefully

Mine seems to have sorted itself out after a few read errors. I think having the console stood up was causing it.

Are you loading the game up by following the method I suggested earlier in this thread?

yes mate i am, ive now had it 3 times  but its been ok for the last 2hrs or so.
