looking at buying a console, but cant quite make up my mind over which one.

ps3 is slightly more expensive, but pretty much ready to go out of the box

360, a bit cheaper, but need to buy a wireless adaptor and xbox live for online play.

in honest opinion, which would be the better option? im tending to lean toward the 360 bast on sheer number of games available and just pay the extra for live/wireless

thoughts/suggestions??

You really shouldnt ask this question on these forums, just starts a flame war between fan boys.

Use the search function since this question has been answered soo many times.

In the end though get a 360 :p

Wouldn't get a 360 myself when you have a PC capable of running all the games that are available for 360+PC. (Xbox has very few that don't come to PC.) Get a PS3 to take advantage of the unique titles.

i got a 360 seocnd hand (elite), ps3 is too much for me to spend as id have to get an hdfury cable to play it on my monitor. (another 60 quid)

Personally its up to you. Seriously ask yourself, whats games would you play? Have a look through game lists/reviews of the major games. Most come out on both consoles now, only a few are specifics. I'm getting gta tonight, another thing that pulled me in was DLC for it. Heck I dont mind paying 25quid for a year of live.

Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Chromehounds, Dead Rising, Saints Row, PGR3, PGR4, Forza 2, Scene-It, Kameo, PDZ, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, Dead or Alive 4, Dance-Dance Revolution, Crackdown, Beautiful Katamari, Naruto, Halo 3 and numerous XBLA titles and future releases all say you're a lying toad.

(edit: found this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Xbox_360-only_games which has exclusive 360 none PC titles)

To the OP it's up to you. Have a think about what games you want to play today and tomorrow and buy based on this. I've had a 360 from launch and still haven't found a reason (game out now) to buy a PS3. Not saying it won't happen but hasn't yet. They're both good consoles but most of the replies here will be biased as posters like to justify their purchases.
