Anyone else using the component cable trick to allow optical and HDMI without paying extra?

Well anyway, whenever I change channels and then back the 360 resets, Kreee do you use this method still? (or ever)

Apparently this is what the 360 does as I have the exact same problem and I also use the cable trick. Kreeee told me it was a flaw in the design.

Ah I see, not too big a deal I guess, just found out it only resets when I change from one HDMI device to another, flicking back to standard TV then to the 360 works ok. :)

Cunning. Pretty tight/clever of MS to put the ports so close together that you can't do this without paying ££ for their cable or hacking cables apart!

To be fair though it has been the same since the 360 came out, no optical port on the 360 and of course the 360 never used to have HDMI. :)

Whether this was a plan all along to introduce the Microsoft HDMI cable eventually however remains to be seen. :p

I get it regardless of whether I change to another HDMI device or through SCART. It can be annoying especially as one of my freeview boxes likes to switch itself on and that automatically changes the TV to EXT1. Annoying if I forget to unplug it.

I still use my modded component cable for optical output and yes the HDMI resolution handshake protocol always resets the 360 >_<

I have the Elite and use the official hdmi cable and audio adaptor too connect it too surround sound and can switch between my pc and xbox 360 (both connected via hdmi) and it doesnt reset the 360 just get a pop up box saying HDCP connection established

Yeah but that's because your 360 only has one connector plugged in.

Using this trick you have the HDMI and Component cables in at the same time, which causes this. :)

It has 2 connectors 1 hdmi and 1 audio adaptor block which has rca and optical audio connectors on it which connects it too my surround sound system

only 1 connection too the tv from the 360 but there are 2 seperate plugs going into it tho both the ports on the back are filled up the hdmi and the component cable port (which looks like the compontent connector but is thinner and only has the audio plugs on it) go into have things plugged in tho, if your meaning that it has too seperate things too plug into a tv it doesnt no
