I've got a 360 and a Samsung LE32R41BD. I've been using it quite happily thinking It was running at 60Hz until yesterday when I decided to download the feeding frenzy demo from the market place. The problem is when I try to run it it says it will only run in 60Hz mode and then bombs out.

I've checked on the 360 setting and when using the component leads (720p)and the VGA leads there is no option in the console settings to set 60Hz. It only seems to be there if I connect my 360 using a scart lead.

Does anyone else run a 360 on the same telly and know if or how you can run a 360 in HD and at 60hz.

Ta.

Switch to normal def, stick it on 60hz and then switch off and put it back to high def.
I swithced to 60 hz for the outfit demo and have played feeding frenzy so I guess I forgot to stick the xbox back to 50hz.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home. The strange thing is that I thought my 360 was running at 60hz in HD anyway  It certainly runs DOA4 ok and I'm sure I read that that only runs in 60Hz anyway.

Ah well, it's maybe a bug in the game.

How does this work with the Dell 2405 then, I cant select the htz. It says it wont work at pal 50 select to 60. But the damn thing is set to 60 anyway

I'm connected through component. Ive tried selecting HD or Normal on the lead too.

Lost me mate. This is the fix.
Flick the switch on the cable to non high def (the cable should have a switch near the plug at the xbox end, if not plug in the cable that came with it).
Go into the xbox 360 video settings in the console and set to 60hz.
Turn the xbox off, swap cables back to vga or flick the switch to HD again.
Turn the xbox on.
Play the game.

Afaik you need the bundled cable and the switch set to non HD in order to change the xbox into 60 hz mode.

Ah cheers got that now. So with my monitor should it be set to 50 or 60 normally? It was set to 50 but when i hit the settings button on my dell it comes up 1080i 60htz. So should I have been runnig it 60htz anyway?

If the native res of the 2405 is 60htz I should be running it at Pal 60 anyway?

This is a very confusing issue with certain 360 programs (or more likely, the dash)

Basically, if you're running through VGA or component, you're running at 60Hz. Fact. There is no other choice at these resolutions.

Despite that, if you never plugged your xbox into your TV/Monitor with either composite video (supplied Core cable, or premium cable switched to TV), or RGB Scart, then the television mode will still be set to PAL 50. This is where some programs (DoA4, Outfit demo etc.) throw a wobbly.

The fix, is as Virii said. But with the addition that you'll have to connect the yellow composite video lead to your monitor (eg. Dell 2405fpw) or TV (with or without the scart adapter, as needed) so that you can see what you're doing.

I ran my 360 on a CRT TV for a couple of months at PAL60, and i've never had anything refuse to work on my HDTV.

Ah ok so it doesnt make any difference what I set it too, I'm getting 60htz anyway. But the workaround has done the trick so I may as well leave it be now.

Anyway for the effort that fish frenzy game is dull as you get. 800 points! I will offer them 8.
