360 Update Today

I dont use my 360 much but after snagging a couple of games (CoD3 and Lost Planet) I've turned it back on.

Didn't see any updates immediately at first, but the new 'colour reference' options are FANTASTIC.

I'm running through VGA and setting it to 'Expanded' (?) makes the colours look exactly like they did when I had my Samsung HDTV (running through a dell 2007wfp atm).

Very pleased indeed.

Don't care much about messenger and marketplace. All I wanted is good picture via VGA. Great update.

Nice, I used t have one of those

Sold it to finance an Acer AL2216W, also a great monitor. I needed dual input (Dsub+DVI) to use with the PC and the 360.

The new black levels are a significant improvement on my Sony40W2000. Contrast, colours and black seem so much better through VGA!

Anyone else noticed that the MSN part of it keeps you logged in for ages and ages after your console is turned off.

I checked for the Forza demo at 7am today, and apprently Im still online.

Capcom should be forced by Microsoft to release a fix for the tearing issue with Dead Rising, it completely ruins the game.

The videos-in-folders addition is great news. Did I read somewhere that the 360 can now play movies within an MPEG-4 container? Has anyone tried yet?

Can it also read the NTFS now?

Probs something really stupid to say but...

Not sure if this is true or not, but in regards to MS clamping down on hacked 360's someone at work mentioned that they may of put that into the forza 2 demo? Anyone heard anything like that or care to dismiss it for me

Anyone know how to change my display name for messenger? It's coming up as an old one when i sign in on my xbox but when I sign in on my pc it comes up as the new one. :confused:

call me daft - but has this new update with it's new VGA modes eliminated (and if not - much much reduced) the horizontal lines/and needing to reduce sharpness problem with the Dell 2407 ?

Its just they seem to have gone for me ? (perhaps I haven't tested enough ?)

Its being suggest that MS will flip the switch on their network when the halo3 beta is released. You want to know why?, i'll tell, well the halo 3 beta is only available on Crackdown, are you with me yet, no?, well its been suggested that Crackdown will be the disc that MS use to check for this jitter correction thats apparently been added to current firmware to stop MS from checking. If you not got it then your stuffed.

So headlines will be

Microsoft Crackdown on Piracy < get it now do we, lol

plus it was with the release of Halo2 on orginal xbox1 that 1st saw instant banning of live accounts.
