360-watchdog

There was an option to take either an additional one year or two years, I went for two which is about £60. I took the warranty out after my xbox360 died and the one they returned was also dead. Like I said I personally value a couple hours of my time greater than the £60 for the two years. The arse ache you'd probably have to go through (like my colleague who appeared in the actual watchdog program) to get your rights enforced just is more than £60 to me. Again £60 versus the cost of buying a new console is also a no brainer to me.

Exactly the same for me. I knew before i bought the 360 it was a flaky piece of poo. I still wanted one knowing this before i bought it, i decided the warranty was the best option for me. I can be bothered to spend hours on the phone which costs money, or petrol to the store etc. All this is just lost time to me.

I wanted to make it as hassle free as possible. Therefore the warranty is my only option. There is a rumour doing the rounds that extended warranty users will get the V2 upgrade for free ;)

ya but its like if everyone stuck together and didnt contribute £59 to MS margin pot then there would be no hassles as MS would know the procedure and not be able to descriminate their level of service between extended warranty holders and non extended warranty holders,

the V2 upgrade...maybe if your machine goes bust and they swap them out. but i wouldnt count on it in the short term.

Agreed but lets say mine breaks after 2 years. Where's the line drawn for refunds, replacements or compensation. At best after months of arguing I would be given compensation back. No way near the cost of the thing. I would then have to buy another anyway.

I just want to play games, not change the world ;)

lol well my consoles just bitten the 3 rings dust. had it on launch day 02-12-05 phoned up MS . a pleasant womans voice answered .went through the usuall carp on trying to get it fixed. no joy .

she then quotes me the price to fix it. i laugh in here face and post out the sale of goods act and quote :-

• Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.

as a start.

she then says MS management had already extended the free replacement policy to 14 months and i was still outside this ( whoppee a whole month more ).

i then re-affirmed my original statement about sog and she contines to blank me with " here's a reference number for you to think about it" .

i say " i'm pointing out the sog act , which is LAW . ms is just policy that cant be inforced" . she stillspouts the usual bs. i come back at here " so your ignoring what i'm saying ?" carries on the same bs line .

i say again " so your not acknowledging what i'm saying ? " and as i'm saying this she basically shouts down the phone at me.

wont pass me on to a manager so i ask if i phone back will i be able to speak to one. all i get is "you will speak to someone else" .

and thats about all i got .

so just done aquick call to the large chain of stores i got it from and mentioned said convo. was slightly put off but said they will discuss it with head office when i come down in the morning.

COPY OF SALE OF GOODS SHEET WILL BE IN MY HANDS WHEN I GO lol

time to practice what i preach. if i dont get what i want i'm taking it further

Microsoft didn't sell you an xbox 360 so you can't use the sale of goods act with them. You can only use the sale of goods act when you talk to the store you bought the console from so the lady from Microsoft was right, although I thought launch consoles were covered till the end of this year.

i can use *** sales of goods act on the store or the MS . its my choice which i attack ;)

Just got the 3 rings today myself :(
A quick smack, replugging the power supply and turning if off and on quickly got it working again

IM sure its just a matter of time tho

well i did have the dread rings a few months afetr i had it. but then removed everything all it worked again. this is the first time since and i've tried repeating the same thing with no luck.

dont really want to leave it now. and the post regrading replacement console would apply to every region imo as MS basically is admiting a fault.

wil go backto ms with this info in the morning before a try tackling local store ( its a well known chain btw that was previously called electronics boutique )

dont think that naming is against rules ( tell me if wrong ) as its a dif name now

No you can't, the sale of goods act refers only to the retailer and consumer not the manufacturer. I was going to use it against a highstreet shop when my 13 month 360 died but they just replaced it anyway.
