I was wondering if anyone had came across a similar problem with the 360 wireless receiver. Basically it connects the controller to the PC fine and I can use it for as long as I want in the game, but when I exit out of the game all of my other game controllers are missing (including the 360 pad) and my sound doesn't work until I restart my machine. Once my machine restarts all my devices are visible in game controllers again and my sound is back (wheel, joystick etc,) It's doing my head in

I've tried reinstalling directx and the xbox pad drivers but still no joy.

I've not had this problem over the years I've used the receiver. I installed the drivers via windows update last time, so I'm not sure if that helps.

If not try another usb slot and reinstall? Not sure what else you could try to be honest. Maybe turning the controller off before exiting the game?

It's your PC's way of telling you not to plug such tat into it, and use the only true control method of keyboard and mouse.

Sixty thats not really helping the guy is it,.

and for your information some games play better with a controller than a mouse/keyboard, and thats a fact.

about the OP problem, you might consider selling both reciver and controller and getting the wired version with USB works far better and less problems. ie = plug in and play.

Oh do be quiet

Are you using the Windows Update drivers for the pad? Sounds like southbridge driver correuption to me.. have you tried reinstalling your chipset drivers?

Im not using the windows update drivers for the pad so and I havent updated xp in ages so I'll try that, I also havent tried the chipset drivers so that'll I'll give that a go as well. I did try disconnecting the battery before exiting out of the game but that didn't help either. Thanks for the help.
