3600MHZ - 16GB CL14 OR 32GB CL16 for £10 more for 5900x

Hi,

I'm not one of them, but I think they use kits of 4000+, Samsung 'B' die, and usually very high price. In fact, OCUK selks such kits on here. It's a real hobby, pushing kit to the extreme, even comoetative. But for a casual gamer, it's not needed. Very marginal imprivements at high cost and effort.

4 sticks single rank makes it the same as 2 sticks dual rank.

Single 16GB is dual rank by default so should be the same without needing to populate all the dimm slots.

some motherboards don’t play well with all dimm slots populated.

that's 1080p only. 4x 8 is better than 2x 8. he says his mate who hes consulting with says 2x 16 is better than 4x 8

1440p/4k is more gpu bound so doesn't matter.

Depends on the game, most games at higher resolution are GPU bound but not all in those CPU bound cases you may see a good uplift but as with all tweaks as you go down the list of settings the gains become ever smaller and more incremental.

Basically what the data is showing (if I have understood it correctly) is:

- get your CAS latency to 16 or lower, ideally 14
- with a 1:1 FCLK multiplier get your CPU up to 1900Mhz or higher
- use dual rank per channel either with 2 x dual rank modules or 4 x single rank modules which may or may not effect timings and frequency due to stability
