36gb Raptor question

My primary using sisoft sandra 2007 file system benchmark, my raptor results are nort as good as maxtor diamond 10 250gb sata 11 HDD?

Both are complete different systems,

Raptor - skt 939 opty 144, 512mb ram
53 mbs transfer rate
12 ms random access time

Maxtor - skt 478 2.4ghz celeron, 256mb ram
62 mbs transfer rate
9 ms random access time

Is this right?

something definately wrong with sisandra 2007, i did it got for my 36GB raptor -
37MB transfer rate!
22ms Access Time!

best to download hdtach and use that ovbiously sisandra must be doing it totally different for working out rates and times.

Using HDtach, my 36Gb Raptor gets;
58.6Mbps Transfer rate
8.4ms Random access.

maybe i need to defrag

What HDtach results do you get?

average read - 49.0MB/sec
random access - 9.0ms
i think my drives having issues though maybe i need to scandisk and defrag it hardcore style.
runs fine though nice and quick usually.

I think my results are just after a defrag, so that probably accounts for the difference.

Just ran hdtach, results for are as follows

58.5mbs transfer rate
7.7 ms random access

Random access is def more like what i would expect, but i expected transfer rate to be on a par if not better than the maxtor drive?

Cool program i just did the quick 8mb test on my chepo 80gb sata drive and got,

Average Read 58.7MB/s
Random Access 19.5ms

Not too bad?

My 6yr old 20GB IDE drive just got

Average Read 27.2MB/s
Random Access 19.2ms

The random access is basically the same? Whys that
