37 gig raptor... what should i expect ?

im getting a 37 gig raptor drive, what can i expect from it with regards to speed and noise ? will it help my windows and battlefield 2 load up any quicker ?

also are they the same speed as the 74 gig raptors ? :confused:

I think they are slightly slower than the 74 16mb versions, but hardly an issue. Loading up of games should be better than say a sata i, but performace vs a sata ii, don't know. They can be noiser the normal ide's and sata drives, but mines ok.

well ive paid £37 for it which i presume is a fair price @ £1 per gig

dont you mean 36gb?

i've got a 74gig one with 8-meg cache. tbh its not that loud. its only loud when its reading or writing to the drive. so for general use i.e. web browsing etc you dont hear it at all, though during windows loading or BF2 loading you will hear it.

quite a good trade off i think, only noise when its actually doing something and quiet when not, but gettin the speed benefits of a 10k hdd

well to be honest noise doesnt bother me as such... i just want someone to assure me that it will perform better than any standard drive i could buy as for £40 i could get a 160 gig SATA 2 drive you see
