3700x mind of its own

Interesting... Was doing OK but soon a sit hit 73c complete system shut down. Cpu not detected

My chip can hit 80C+ without shutting down. Maybe your boards VRMs are getting too hot? Can you monitor VRM temps on the board you have? The highest VRM temp on my X470 Taichi so far is 58C.

How would I do that?

I also took off my cooler and dunno if its me but... shouldnt this be flat? or does it look right for taking a cooler off?

It might be a long shot - check what the shutdown temperature with your motherboard is. Some motherboards have a max temperature which you can enter at which the system will shut down.

OK, I'll put this back together in a moment and go into bios. I can upload pictures from my PC so what should I look to upload.

Also whilst we're at it, I know it's one of the reasons for the forum, but I appreciate everyones help on this. Most I've ever spent on a PC and it's driving me mad!

I don't like the look of that paste, it looks burnt. Maybe this is normal with Ryzen, but that would definitely concern me!

Most of the time random shut downs like this are down to a memory or power problem. The buzzing sound would point to the PSU. What power supply do you have?

I would be tempted to pull the system from the case clear the CMOS and build the system on a desk.

Looking at it. the buzzing was the speakers where the system just froze. Power issue wouldnt explain the cpu error light on mobo.

Gunna send the board back, it's driven me crazy.

MSI LiveStream Conclusion

  • B450 Tomahawk will stay on GSI Lite and will not recieve the Click Bios 5 again, at least for Ryzen 3000 Series and upcoming. Users of 1000/2000 Series should stay on their BIOS.

  • GSI Lite BIOS will not going to have OC profiles again. Update: They are looking into it. No promise. Quote: " ***MSI Gaming:*** just checking some bios release note, OC Profiles might be back in future GSE-Lite bioses "

  • MSI is *now* aware of the problems regarding the Tomahawk and CPU Debug light issues and will investigate that problem. They hopefully have some new Infos next week, but no promise.

  • "Old" B450 MB (including Tomahawk) will have Ryzen support until 2020 (?)

  • If you just bought any B450 Board, you should return it and buy a MAX board instead. Its more "futureproof" for upcoming BIOS updates and its no hassle with Ryzen 3000 Series. (Official statement on livestream from MSI, wow.) Timestamp on stream: 1:40:29, you can watch it here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_elcRHeVjI

  • After i asked this question: "Will there be an option to RMA an not working B450 Tomahawk and recieve an B450 Tomahawk MAX (maybe with additional charge) ?" They closed the stream. Quote: " ***MSI Gaming:*** Sorry it seems the stream dropped, anyway we are out fixing your Tomahawk issues. thanks for joining this was the last topic anyway. Thanks for joining and see you next week, hope to have an update on Tomahawk... no promise."

I've ordered a gigabyte x570 board. £210 later. Not happy but I really don't believe another b450 will solve this issue.. I dunno. Anxious
