Hi there,

Anyone got any engineering sample or even pre release retail 3770k chips they've overclocked? Just looking for some pointers compared to the 2700k's in terms of voltage/speeds they're getting etc.

Cheers

Just to clarify, I've got some of these chips and I'm looking to see what they can do - I'm expecting less voltage required than SB, so I'm thinking maybe max volts of 1.35 or so vcore...?

I have a 3570K and a 3770K engineering sample, E0 stepping. Cant really comment on what your after here though due to NDA. experiment with whats needed at different frequencys. I would also recommend you use core or real temp to keep a close eye on internal temps.

So you're saying that despite the fact it's running on a 22nm process from 32nm and uses less power, they get *hotter*? Hmmm.

I guess I'll see shortly - my chips arrive tomorrow.

I'd be most interested to see how these overclock as well, not having any engineering samples myself and having to wait until the end of the month like most other people

I happen to have an NDA with myself about any emails I may or may not recieve *cough* ;)

Running hotter than SB isn't that much of a problem though as SB doesn't really come close to damaging heat even at higher voltages on good air. Unless it's approaching Conroe temps at the same voltages then that would be a major problem for overclocking.
